Does anyone know where to get different alert sounds for your buddy list on AIM? Like when a buddy signs off, signs on, receiving IM’s, sending IM’s etc…The preset sounds are really getting on my nerves and I want new ones to replace the old ones. Thanks for your help!!!
well what operating system are you running? usually (at least on XP) the standard system sounds (not the aim sounds) are in C:WindowsMedia, try doing a search on your computer for any .wav files
you can have whatever sounds you want on AIM at least on the newer versions. go to ‘edit preferences’ then ‘im/chat’ then ‘sounds’ you will have a scroll down list, then a browse button, then a preview button. if you hit browse and then look where tigerblade said you should have a nice selection of .wav files. you can also search your computer for all .wav files using the ‘search for files and folders’ feature. you can also make your own .wav files using sound recorder or convert .mp3 files to .wav using something like musicmatch. i would try and keep the file size and length of the sound down, but i don’t think there is any limit.
