Hi,
Last time I upgraded yahoo messenger someone walked me through how to move the archives. I cant recall exactly which folder I moved and to where if anyone can help or give me some guideance it would be really appreciated. I want to upgrade to the new 7.0 I dont want to lose my archives and individually they are alot to save to file. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

If you simply install v7 over your old Yahoo, your archives shouldn’t be affected, they weren’t with mine. Also I think someone said even if you uninstall Y! the archives remain as long as you don’t delete the main Yahoo folder that is left behind. (Can anyone confirm this one?) BUT if you want to be safe just in case, the archive is located in
C:Program FilesYahoo!MessengerProfilesUSERNAMEArchive
You can make a backup of the entire folder and store it in a different location just in case something goes wrong with the install or they somehow get wiped out.
If you are simply upgrading, the archive will remain there. Even if you uninstall Yahoo! Messenger, as long as the Profiles folder is there in the Yahoo! folder, the archives will be there and can be accessed using the upgraded Y!M version. In Beta messenger, the default for archive is “Save all my messages, but clear them each time i signed out”.
Now if you want to move all your archives, you can move the entire Profiles folder in the path amy_d_g have posted. I suggest moving it to the Desktop to easily locate it. After moving your Profiles folder, you can delete the Yahoo! folder if you wish. After re-installing Y!M, be sure to put the Profiles folder back to C:Program filesYahoo!Messenger
Hope it helps.
