MemberHey, when MSN first had the option to show a Display picture it was easy yo just click on any picture and it would become my display pic, but now it constantly says that the picture is too big, and for the picture to fit I have to tweak and prod the picture in a bunch of differnet ways in Photoshop before it works. I have to do this every time.
Anyone know what to do?
Oh im using MSN Version 6.2 (6.20137)
and I have MSN Plus! 3.00.92 installedthanks

MemberHi,
you can get a plugin for MSN Plus called Stuffplug-ng and it keeps the original size of the display picture. You can find Stuffplug-ng here: http://www.msgplus.net/pluginsdb/down/?action=file&id=93. 🙂when installing you have to go to http://www.stuffplug.com/?act=generate to get the validation key.

MemberI get exactly the same message when trying to add Emoticons now. It started with only some, now I can not add ANY emoticons at all. I tried re-installing MSN Messenger but no change. Hopeless. I read many people have the same problem and yet there is no solution. Is there a maximum number of emoticons you can have perhaps?

ParticipantHi
I have probably 60+ custom display pics and every now and then I get that error message when trying to add a new one ” the picture you have chosen is not a valid image file”
This seems to vary with different times of day and I suspect may be a problem with congestion on MSN network. In preparing images for display pics I use a free program called Irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com) and use it to resize images to 500 pixels on longest side first then crop that so it is square (500 x 500 pixels). I save that image in my default MSN display pic folder (My Pictures).
When I try to convrt a pic to a display pic I get that error message and ths apples to previous pics which have been converted OK, so that why I say it is not the picture , but a time or congestion related fault.
In any case keep trying to make a pic a display pic and eventually after 10 – 20 efforts it will allow it to happen. Strangely enough it then usually gives you a clear run with a number of other pics as well.
Hope that helps
