MSN Explorer 8 free or not?

Is MSN Explorer 8 free or not? I cant even seem to find a link to see what version they want you to download.

Yes it’s free. I kinda don’t get what you mean ‘what version’. There’s only one choice – 8. There’s a big shiny install button. Click on it. 🙂

No it is not free. It costs money for both the browsing software and the ISP. $9.95/month for the browser by itself.

OK I called MS on Saturday, and I couldnt get any information cause of the servers being down, but what I wanted to say, is that the ppl working at MS are absolutly stupid! I wanted to get info on MS ISP and I went through 4 different 1-800 numbers before I got one person to tell me that MS doesnt have an ISP service in Canada. (Blah!!) Then they want me to pay 15 bucks a month for a browser? YA right!!
Ill stick with the one that comes with XP!

The MSN 8 software is designed to compete with AOL software. It’s intended to be painfully easy-to-use (read: your grandma would be right at home). People who are already comfortable on the Internet would probably only be stifled by the software for the most part.

The weird and somewhat unfortunate thing is that there are some nice features they’ve added to MSN 8 that you can’t get with just MSN Messenger 5 or IE 6… like co-browsing and parental controls. But those features aren’t worth paying even ten bucks a month, in my opinion.

OK a month… you would think they would make you pay a once… but nooooo… who the hell would pay 125$ a YEAR for a browser?
You can make a web site cheaper a year for that!

Just as a little foreward, I used to work selling MSN broadband service! This information is from my expierance there!

MSN 8.0 is a pay service. You can still find some instances of MSN 7.0 (Free Older Version) via sites like http://www.download.com, as far as MSN having service in Canada. At the moment there is speculation to their launching a MSN.ca service. Keep in mind thats speculation. I mean MSN is not quite smart not allowing MAC users to access their software hence not having the base of MAC users paying for their ISP service in America. As far as MSN text/billing support, good luck. Its an outsourced company working for MSN. They are a bunch of people working for minimum wage, with very little training.
