Greetings,
I am on a cable connection in the U.S and my family is on a DSL connection in Sweden. We have always communicated though messenegr back and forth. Recently they installed a Router, D-LINK 640 and now we can’t recive video anymore. I know there are always problems between routers and messeneger but I have tried to do everything possible to make it work. My video is being blocked from their end.
I have enabled UDnP.
Thanks for any input and we are bot running XP and the latest messenger as of today (No Messenger 6 yet)

I also have a D-link router and if your family in sweden goes to there account at dlink and goes to tech support they can configur there router and download new drivers. they also can send dlink an e-mail asking why it won’t work and they should be able to help. I hope i was of so help.Odababy
I wish it was that easy. D0link support in Sweden is proabably among the worst out there. Also, the swedish D-link group says that any firmware update not done from D-link sweden (which is a firmware that does not work well with video and voice) voids the warranty.
I am kind of stuck. I think we are in the process of getting another router so any suggestions would be appreciated!
Only router I know that works with MSN Messenger Voice and Video is Linksys. I had a Netgear and it did not work, so I broke down and bought a Linksys. I have a Linksys BEFW11S4, and can now do voice and video on it. You will have to do some configuring but its simple, check the knowledge Base on their site. Only one problem is that every so often the internet connection goes to sleep and needs to be reset by unplugging the Modem and Router. But other then that Linksys is the way to go.
This is not going to be much help but it’s to do with “port redirecting”. If you can determin which ports are being used for the video you can redirect them appropriately. The principle I base that on is with ftp servers through routers. If your router has a firewall it may show you which ports are being blocked.
