BBB member Brian reported that MSN Messenger 6.2 is available for download at http://messenger.msn-int.com.
UPDATE – The official MSN Messenger site (http://messenger.msn.com) is now distributing MSN Messenger 6.2.
The current build is 6.2.0133
Downloads are going very slowly — consider using a mirror.Screen shots
The try to get you to install the MSN toolbar for IE, make MSN your default search and homepage.
Mobile contacts can be grouped, and are more easily distinguished by a gold-colored MSN buddy.
The Launch Menu is changed to Fun & Games.

I feel it to be a complete dissapointment. It added a few things to the install like MSN Toolbar etc.. but not of my interest. Also, the only things I seen were the Lanch Site renamed, and you are able to view emoticons where you type your messages before they are sent. Nothing at all big in my mind. No animated display pictures were added to the package. *sigh*.. I guess the thing we have to wait for now is Plus!, which is said to be released in the second week of May.

Alot of hype for nothing special, think i’ll stick to 6.1. Thanks for the posting tho. Now just looking forward for messenger plus 3. 🙂
The online help still mentions Deluxe Pictures (animated display pics), although the interface doesn’t show the option.

This isn’t new(“Edit My MSN Direct Watch Settings”), I had that with MSN 6.1
I don’t call this an update, I call this an embarassment.

The featured background is a new tab. Either that, or it never interested me enough to look at it.
Disappointed about the Deluxe Pictures. didn’t come across them. Are they available only to MSN subscribers? I heard that somewhere, but assumed it was only a rumour.
Animated Display pics could have taken it by storm. (hopefully with an option to pause it – jumping jacks, flying ants and glowing neons might become annoying after a while).In general. I’m disappointed.

It’s not meant to be a huge update. Version numbers actually mean something:
Major.Minor.Revision
When the minor changes, it is usually more of a bugfix upgrade, not a full, all-new thing.
None that I see.

Also something else I noticed: when using custom emoticons, if you have used a code like “:@@:” it will not display the custom emoticon, but only the
instead, followed by the rest of the custom emoticon’s choosen code.WTH? MSN 6.2 sucks? This is totally stupid? Like what could their delay have been? COuldnt change the launch menu’s name to Fun and Games? Like give me a break thats the only update I got! O I forgot when you type in a hot key for any amoticon it shows right away in the text box. Even with your personnalized ones. Ok I could of lives without that! Like give me a break! DO you agree with me?

They must’ve decided to scrap the idea, or maybe delay it. I am a MSN subscriber and they don’t work there, either.
Im really angry! Everyone where I live was getting excited about all the new features! I just called them and told them to forget about downloading it.
They might of had trouble creating Deluxe Pictures. Well they better fix it!
IF I WERE THE MSN MESSENGER CREATORS I WOULD BE ASHAMED!
Dude, reality check, Microsoft/MSN doesn’t have to add any this for you.
Be grateful that they update and provide MSN free of charge for all of you!
And uh, if you were the ‘creator’ (I’ll assume you mean programmer), of MSN Messenger, you wouldn’t be ashamed of your software (That hundreds of thousands of people use every day).
