hi
i understand msn messenger 7.5 has different log-in status to choose from, namely online, busy etc.
my question is,
1) if i sign in as “Appear Offline”, will my contact knows that i actually did sign in, but just want to appear as offline?
2) can i permanently set my msn status as “appear offline” or i need to do it everytime i log on.
3) beside the few status that msn provide, can i add my own customised status?
thanks.

1) Nope – no one will know that you are actually signed in.
2) MSN Messenger remembers the last sign in status you used.
3) (Although i’m not 100% on this one) You can create customised statuses using Messenger Plus! http://www.msgplus.net
Hope that helps!
Additional notes to MartinBradley’s reply:
1) Messenger Discovery is an addon for Messenger that used to have an option to to notify you whenever soneone signs in as offline. It wasn’t very reliable and it could often give false alerts. The latest version though doesn’t have that feature anymore.
3) Indeed, Messenger Plus! has a feature of personalising your status. You can’t use it as a log-in status though.
