I have a rather specific problem.
I have an elderly and disabled mother who lives hundreds of miles away who it would be really nice to contact via instant messaging and videocall occasionally.
She already has AIM installed on her computer and uses a Mac – telephone calls to try to explain how to install new programs etc are particularly frustrating for both of us and always ends up in upset.
I have msn messenger and skype and I was wondering if there was any plugin or extension available that I could use with either of those programs, or indeed if there are any other IM programs that I could install that would allow me to chat to her with her AIM account with also video call capabilities?
Any help is much appreciated.

Try Meebo – Connecting AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Facebook, MySpace messengers or I think Trillian also but I’ve never used that one! Meebo allows IM between AIM/MSN & Yahoo.
Hope that helps,
SteveIf you want to avoid installing any new programs – give Tokbox a try. You should be able to do voice and video with very little hassle.
