Before anything else, i want to give thanks in advance to anyone who participates in here giving any help to this thread. English in not my mother language, so beg for mercy if sometimes i fail to write in the most clear manner.
Let’s go to the point, fisrt of all, im using Windows XP Pro and (now) Msn Messenger 6. Running all this in an Asus L5800c. At this stage im “already almost” completely disappointed with Messenger, and the damn thing has a nice look. I would really like to see it working perfectly without problems! I´ve already given a look to this forum. I’ve read all the sections about Msn Messenger. I may! say that i’ve tried everything i read and i’ve done a lot of research. But results? None! I’ve already downloaded Yahoo! and im sartting to think in using it. The disadvantage is that all my friends are in Msn and Yahoo would only be used to see my girlfriend… That’s the point here… 😮 At the week we study in different cities (i think it is written this way), although having chances to see each other in “real life”, when we can’t is good to have this way…. So,… Now that i have explained the reasons,…What brings me here is that when i start a video conversation, wich starts at the same time a voice conversation, the thing when gets to start, isn’t on for no more than a couple of seconds. The majority of the times it doesn’t even start. Sometimes i get the message – “The video chat has ended” – even before something starts. Other times i get a message that the network or the computer that i’m trying to reach is experiencing problems, so that i should try later. Im using XP firewall (it is configured, or at least there are there the Messenger pots opened) and Norton Firewall 2003. I think that this makes no difference as i don’t get any message regardind to the firewalls.
I’ve tried all this with Msn Messenger 5 (ill explain why later) and 6. No results at all.
Why Msn Messenger 5. Because i have it installed at home on a desktop pc. Running Windows 2k3 and i have no problems while connecting to her (regarding that this laptop concerning in firewalls in configured just like my home pc). She’s running Messenger 6 also on a laptop with XP.
So, i hope that i have been “understoodable”, and if anyone knows anything that could might help… Lots of thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I take it that instead of clicking on the webcam button at the top of the chat window, you go to Actions > Start a video conference. If so, you might want to try starting up your webcams one after another (first her, then you, and if that fails, then you start your cam first and then she starts hers). If that turns out to be the way to do it, you can try adding audio in the same manner.
It’s definitely also possible that either of you are on an internet connection that isn’t fast enough to handle both the webcams and audio feeds, which will then return the error and events you described. If that is indeed the case, you might have to use a different messenger to both have your cams and audio on, or you could choose to only one of you two have the cam on at a time and then switch after a while. I know it’s not ideal, but right now (still way too early in the AM if you ask me) that’s all I can think of.
