So, here’s what happened.
I was playing a game, when it froze. I couldn’t do anything. Move, alt+f4, ctrl+alt+del… anything. Sound was messing up, too. So I shut it off.
Well, I turn it on again, and this is when everything goes nuts. It looks more pixelated than it usually is. The left 3/4 of the screen is black, while the right half looks… splotchy. As in it looks like water got under the screen, or something. I know that’s not the case, because it was fine 5 minutes ago.
I took out the battery, unplugged it, waited for just over a minute, and tried it again. Same thing.
I took out the secondary hdd. Same thing.
I couldn’t get the primary hdd unscrewed, so I just left that in.Dad as a program that works miracles on other’s computer (saves them from the blue screen, for example) called SpinRite… so I tried sticking that disk in. My issue with this, though, is that it can’t boot off the cd drive. I don’t even get that far.
Which is an issue.I need help. I reeeeally don’t want to use my sister’s computer when I need to do things. x_x
EDIT: I have Windows Vista Ultimate 64x. Updated to the max. In both Windows and HP drivers.

Are you able to boot in safe mode? If so, does the screen still look the same?
Screens on laptops can go bad and so can lots of other internal parts. But the fact that it just locked up and the sound went wacky at the same time sounds a bit odd. Especially since it was after all this that the screen was messed up.
Let us know if booting in safe mode makes any difference or not. If it does, I’m more inclined toward virus/malware or corrupted something or other. If it makes no difference, it may be something internal and we’ll have to wait to hear some other opinions.

I’ll cross my fingers for you – I can imagine how frustrating it is!!

If you can’t even get it to POST, then it’s more than likely the motherboard, processor or memory… since it’s a laptop, your best bet is to talk to HP and see how much they’ll charge to look at it.

HP offered to fix it for $400… but I’d really like a cheaper way, if you know what I mean.
