MemberHi.. I have a little problem. I recently purchased a wireless router (with a USB wireless adapter for my PC) and I’ve been having some problems.. It’s usually fine when I’m just chatting on AIM.. but when I open up Limewire which I download songs from it usually disconnects me from the internet.. Same when I visit websites sometimes.. and then I have to unplug my USB adapter and plug it back in and it works. Can someone help me with this?

MemberI’m not sure If what I have to say may help you in your situation, but I’ve been through a similar one myself. When we first got hooked up to cable, my computer was running off of a wireless connection, and My computer was getting locked up everytime I tried to run Limewire and some websites that had a lot of content on them… Come to find out, there was something in my area that was blocking my signal, then we switched to the wireless USB adapter instead of the network card, and it wasd doing the same thing… the only way to solve the problem was to run a long ethernet cable from my computer to the main modem box…. but even before that our main computer was having a lot of problems staying connected, or connecting right, to begin with…I kept calling the service techs about the problem, and the only thing they could figure was that my modems were getting “burnt” out…literally, so after replacing our modem 4 times now, and running strictly on ethernet cables, the problem seems to be fixed. Depeding on who you go through, maybe you could have them send a tech to check out your modem… it seems as though they go bad fairly easy, yet no one seems to know why… we went through 4 in about a 1 month period  Hope that maybe this can help.. it’s all a bunch of trial and error…enough to make dial up look good :p

Memberanother more simple explanation to ur problem is that you are exceeding your bandwidth limit and your router and modem are not able to keep up with your demands.
for example…
you are connected to the limewire server… downloading say… 5 songs… each song has around 7-8 sources… you are running aim, which is connected to the aim server… and you are getting x amount of ims… with buddy icons and wallpaper… and the works… plus you are trying to go to some random website online… all that information is trying to travel from the internet to your modem to your router and then finally to your computer… and when your bandwidth gets congested, usually the modem will cut itself off momentarily to try and catch up…
try not to run too many internet-access-based applications at one time and hopefully that will solve your problem
