MemberWhen I was about 17, I came real close to kickin the bucket…I was to do some yard work that sat. morning…mow the lawn, trim the edges…clean up the yard…stuff like that…

I had just got through mowing the lawn and it was time to start trimming around the edges…the trimmer was to be plugged in at a 220 surcuit out by our bushes…so I plugged in the exstintion cord to the outlet, and walked over to the trimmer…(I was barefoot of course..)…as soon as I picked up the end of the trimmer cord…then picked up the end of the extintion cord that was it…
…The eletricity running through my body was so bad that I was being jerked up off the grass…I could not move out of the situation whatsoever…so I did the only thing I could do…I SCREAMED!!!…My mother was in the house and my sisters friend was standing by the front door not knowing what was happening to me…just stood there…there were a few neighbors around in there own yards, that looked up and was wondering also…But all at the same time was this man who starting running towards my house…and at the same time my Mother pushed my sisters friend out of the way of the front door to turn off the switch…the man crashed into me as my Mom finally hit the switch to OFF…
Laying on the grass with the neighbor man on top of me…and hearing my Mother sobbing…I was helped into the house…
….The doctor said I could have died…just a few more seconds is all it would have taken…my hand was burned and also had to cut about 3 inches of my hair off…(hair was down to my behind).
My whole body smelled burned…
…But I lived through it and here I am…a very eletrifing personality as a result…

MemberWOW thats really bad!!! I’m also glad ur ok…where wud we be wifout u!!

My experience was when i when on holiday to scotland…as young explorers, me, my brother and two other friends we went on holiday with decided to climb a waterfall…we’d already climbed a previous one so we felt big bout ourselves and wanted a new challenge (this was only 4 months ago by the way!)…so we found an increadibly steep one! i tend to keep to the bak of these kinda things but im a clumsy oaf and could not be trusted at the front, but for some reason i found myself at the front!! the only way up was to climb a near to vertical patch of moss!! yes u heard me…MOSS!! so i grabbed on and started to climb, but thats when i also started to slip, the moss was not at all strong enuf to hold my weight and i didnt have n e fin BUT moss to grab on to…so i turned round and i started to slide down this rock towards a pool of water wif a MSSSIVE waterfall next to it…if i had fallen, i wud hav surely gone down the fall and died…luckily, my brother stepped in front of me and stopped me from going n e further! i dont have a clue why he didnt fall, but he stopped me on the spot!! that proper scared me tho…and i dont fink ill be climbing to many waterfalls in a rush!

MemberNear death? it was closer to near life, I was already dead I ‘knew’ that.
I floated above a girls form in a room with echo’s n a lot of people giving orders, shouting. one was quite rude. it was warm but with a chill. The girls form looked empty missing something, her face a mess like minced meat, they, the others, seemed not intereted in it, they worked elsewhere, they pushed and pulled her body like it was empty. They talked, often raised voices, a woman spoke to the girl, she sat by her head. They turned her over and kept on with what looked like an orchestrated assault she was so small, she was becomming a child as I watched.
They turned her again now on her back the face now was their attention, Oh sweet mother of Jesus she looked so tiny, the cheek sat bach on the face and I could look on her, I know that face, its mine.
The girl, she, me, is now pulling me, I have to go back no way do I want that, I fight and scream, theres no resitance I can offer, somehow I was going ‘home’.
I wake in another place, screaming.
This is not an experience I want again.

MemberNear death? I dont know.
I dont wish to pee on someone else’s parade so I’ll keep this personal.
I prefer to think of it as a residual memory from a time of trauma n enhanced or subdued by anaesthetic.
In the days that followed and I learned what happened my personal God deserted me or maybe I rejected him Its not important which, only that from that time I grew, and continue to grow. I was a selfish person prior to that time now I’m more people oriented, tho certainly more reserved in public.
Privately ofcouse I present another identity, and am more myself.
Near death? who knows.

ParticipantNear death?
Me?
I already AM dead. I am just a spirit – transfering myself from server to server on the internet. I am in search of my online-boyfriend; Ricky Martin.Okay I lied.
No I don’t think I’ve ever been close to death – not that I can recall of.
Well I got hit by a car once…. I fink I was 6 or 7. I made a nice lil’ crater on the woman’s car front – but the lady was so scared if I were alive or not that she didn’t care and she excused my crater. I had to go to hospital for injuries. My legs haven’t ever been the same but oh well. But I wasn’t near death. I ‘spose that’s as near as I got.Windaphoner

MemberWell I don’t know about near death… but it was pretty freakin scary. Me and my friend were at this playground. He decided that he would sit on his skateboard and go down the slide. Well, since it looked so fun, I had to try it myself. But after a few rounds, I had to take it to the next level. I took the board up to the top, stood on it, and slid down. Damn you centrifugal force. I started leaning back way to far. Before I knew what was happening, my head SLAMMED into the bottom of the slide. A split second later my back hit the ground really hard. For a few seconds everything was black, and I couldn’t breathe for a while. :p

KeymasterWow that is some experience. Thank God you pulled through. The only thing near death that has happened to me was when I was little I slipped on the bathroom floor and fell back and cracked the back of my head and from what I was told I went unconscious. I still have the scar but my hair covers it very well. I don’t really remember anything else about it but hey maybe that knock did me good. I did well all throughout school. heh.

MemberHaha. I know it sounds stupid but I almost got beaten up by a kangaroo once when I was like 14.
Me and some mates were walking through another mates farm and we were bored so we started throwing rocks at a tree in some scrub and somone must have hit the roo with a stray rock because out of the trees came a pretty big roo bounding toward us. We freaked and ran up a pile of rocks that was, very luckily, about 10 meteres away so the roo couldnt get us and after a few minutes he calmed down and went back into the trees.
We sprinted all the way back to the house though.:p

ParticipantAnimals are dangerous *nods sagely* Not near death, but scary none the less…I doubt any of you know this, but in Minnesota, it is illegal to kill Canadian Geese, Loons if you will. And in Rochester, we have a coal power plant that heats the nearby Silver Lake (which is really neat when it’s -30 degrees F out and the lake is steaming because it’s so warm and the mist travels over the road and stuff). But because of this heating of the lake, the geese don’t leave…so we get them all year round…and geese multiply like it’s -nobodies business-. Anyway, there’s something around 2 thousand of these things, and very hostile to things smaller than them since they’re protected, so one decided it didn’t like me at 5 years old feeding it corn, so it decided to take a running start and jump on my head and beat me with it’s wings. *cough* it was fun *thumbs up*
But my only life threat, other than being dropped when I was a baby because my brothers decided it was fun to play “catch”…when I was… *click click click* oh golly, 17 years old, I was walking home from school on september 11th with my boyfriend. There was a car stopped at a stop sign, a navy blue 2001 jeep grand cherokee, and as we went across the street, right in front of her licenseplate, the stupid fu…*cough* charming woman decided to book it to get onto the busy street it was T-boning. Needless to say I was completely under the car, ran over my right foot, slide 3 feet on the pavement, bruised my inner thighs and my left outer where the car hit me, smacked my head on the pavement and blacked out. I remember the car going, feeling my body have the choice of going under or over, and trying to stand my ground, then seeing my foot and the tire…next I know Josh is dragging me out from under the jeep and my foot really really hurts. Well, I didn’t live with my parents, not since I was 16, and I wasn’t an adult yet, so after they call the ambulance, I didn’t have a choice but to go and accept the 300 dollar bill for the ride. I got there, had an exam, got to see all my scrapes, bruises and the like, casted my foot up and then called my father *groan* who I wasn’t talking to…for…reasons that I wont bore you with. Anyway, he was too busy to come release me, then yelled at me for getting hit…and sent his girlfriend to release me. I went home, la de da…then the stupid woman who hit us tried to get out of paying for my medical bills and no lawyer would take the case because…well..I was 17! *sigh, shrug* Who knows man…only funny thing was at the hospital when they asked me what day it was, I laughed and said “What day is it!? Everyone knows today!” …they stared at me blankly and I shrank down and said “september 11th, 2002” Talk about bad luck eh?

MemberOuch, pretty extreme RK. My near death experience must’ve been about 3-4 years ago, so I would’ve been 13 or 14. I can’t remember. I have no memory for dates. 😉
Anyway, I was cycling on the pavement of a busy main road with a few friends and didn’t realise my shoelace had become untied. It got tangled in the pedals, and stopped me from pedalling. The bike overbalanced and I fell onto the road. When I opened my eyes I could see the wheel of a car driving straight towards my head. It seemed to be happening in slow motion. I couldn’t move because my legs were trapped in the bike and the car wasn’t slowing down. (The driver just used the horn and seemed to have decided that I must obviously enjoy lying in the road and was doing it on purpose). At the last second I managed to free my legs enough to roll back onto the pavement. Watching the car wheel drive over where my head had been less than a second earlier really freaked me out.
