1. I need help hosting a status server. My ISP blocks port 80. I have IIS setup on the machine using a port 2002 for my web page. Do I run the status server in the same wwwroot folder?
2. I installed Trillian ages ago and I can’t remember every putting in a username or password. Is that online staus function for Trillian Pro 1.0 users only or something?November 23, 2002 at 10:32 pm #66126TonyMember1. Online Status Indicator (OSI) runs as a separate program and acts as a web server itself. You can place status.jar in any folder (preferrably NOT the wwwroot folder) and doubleclick it. You need to set up OSI on a different port than your web server uses (port 8080 is recommended if port 80 cannot be used).
2. The Trillian Status Indicator works for all Trillian users. It basically uses either AIM, ICQ or MSN to detect status.
November 24, 2002 at 10:38 am #66134SpudMemberOk will set up using port 8080 and see how I go.
With the Trillian thing, to get the html code for Trillian online status do I just use one of my AIM, MSN, Yahoo or ICQ account ID/Username?November 24, 2002 at 11:06 am #66125TonyMemberYes, just use your id for AIM, ICQ or MSN.
Yahoo is NOT supported for Trillian status.
November 25, 2002 at 12:02 am #66132SpudMemberOk I have managed to get it running with port 8080. Now I am a little confused as to what to do next as far as how I get my website’s status indicator to use my server as the status host. I am unsure on the whole html code thing. I’ve tried replacing html code with my ip and port instead of the one I was using but its not working.
November 25, 2002 at 12:14 am #66123TonyMemberI’m not really sure what you mean. As I said earlier, OSI acts as a web server. The software has a built-in register page available at http://yourhostname:8080 (replace yourhostname with your hostname or ip address). You shouldn’t have to do any HTML code to have your host set up. It is out-of-the-box.
November 25, 2002 at 12:21 am #66133SpudMemberAh yes! Very cool! Cheers Tony for all your help. Now who do I send my url details too so other ppl can use it too? If that would be you then here you go 🙂
November 25, 2002 at 12:39 am #66124TonyMemberOne thing though… You need to set up a Dynamic DNS host or Static DNS host instead of a WebHop.
However, if your ip address never change, you may use http://210.49.167.37:8080 as the address to your host.
As for sending your url details, please go to http://status.webhop.net/host.html and click the Join the Online Status Indicator Web Ring link.
November 25, 2002 at 12:57 am #66127WoodyMemberHi Spud…
Your OSI seems to work fine…
To make things easier for users of your OSI, please make a DNS host.. a HOSTNAME is easier to remember.. 😉
Just GoTo DynDNS and apply for a free DNS-name.And last but not least, register your OSI at the OSI WebRing, fill in the details, and users will begin to drop in.
Have fun…November 28, 2002 at 2:59 pm #66129twistedmetalMemberIs there a seperate indactor for ICQ alone? Ive noticed that one is included with the Trillian, but not alone. Is there one in the future?
November 28, 2002 at 5:56 pm #66128magistykMemberWhat are you talking about? It’s right there on the registration page, you can choose ICQ. Are your eyes working correctly today?
November 28, 2002 at 9:06 pm #66131SpudMemberWhenever someone replies to this post I get 5 or more identical emails in my inbox. Can someone rectify that for me please?

November 29, 2002 at 4:36 am #66130SpudMemberLOL there is no ‘Unsubscribe from this topic’ at the top of this page 🙂
November 29, 2002 at 7:07 am #66121Jeff HesterKeymasterSpud, I’ll jump in here since the problem you describe effects the entire forum. If you have subscribed to this topic, you will see an “Unsubscribe from this topic” link at the top of the page. When you subscribe, you should receive one (and only one) email message whenever a reply is made to this topic. If five replies are made, you would receive five emails. If you have not subscribed to this topic or forum, you should not receive any emails.
All that being said, I checked your subscription, and for some strange reason, you were subscribed four times to this topic. In theory, this should not be possible. I unsubscribed you from this topic, and it removed all four subscriptions.
If you’d like to get notified when new replies to this topic appear, try subscribing again and I’ll check the database to make sure it only creates one entry for your account.
