🙁 Okay i have a problem. I want to ask if there is a maximum amount of characters you can have in a screenname because i recently got some bodyies sn but it is 23 letters long but they say it works fine. Also my friend said there is no limit because he has long names on his buddy list. So i want to know what i can do to put the 23 letter long sn on my buddy list because when i put it it says error. plz help
according to the AIM.com website, screennames must be 3-16 characters. i personally have never seen a screenname longer than that… have you tried sending them a message without adding them to your list?
i seriously doubt they have a 23-character name that works.
if you register a @mac.com address you can technically have a very large sn (20 characters not including the @mac.com). AIM (version 4.8) buddylist allows me to add a screenname of ~97 characters (including @mac.com) as long as @mac.com is at the end. after ~97 characters it doesn’t allow me to type.
you can register a @mac.com address if you have a browser with a mac-like useragent. the easy way is to use .Mac Register by xeon. the harder way would be to modify your useragent yourself and visit: https://www.mac.com/WebObjects/Signup.woa/wa/trial. .Mac Register uses useragent: “Mozilla/2.0 (Macintosh; I; PPC)” but i’ve tried other mac-like useragents that also work. Browser ID (User-Agent) Strings (Google cache) if you use Mozilla Firefox as your browser User Agent Switcher will allow you to modify your useragent.
it surprises me his other friends dont have a problem with it…why not have him IM you first…. If that works then adding is simple if it doesnt let you …then ull have to do all that jazz with the docmac and wat not. I must say user91c that was very informative kudos on that
