MemberHow do you use netmeeting and a web cam? My friend is on XP, and Im guessing that XP has another piece of something for cam & mic options, but because Im only on 98(se), I needed to use netmeeting. I dont have a cam but they did, so how do we set the options so that I can view only the cam. When we set up for netmeeting, and when it opened, it wanted us to call someone. We dont want to call anyone. (not that I can alteast, Im on dial up and their on cable). Do we call to their IP address or something? I found this really confusing. Can anyone help? For now we had to use Yahoo Messenger, and Ypager can be a PITS!!!!

ParticipantYes – you “call” their IP address to establish a connection between the two of you.
I’m sure you can figure it out from their on. There’s webcam, mic, whiteboard, desktop sharing etc.March 14, 2003 at 9:10 am #97713twistedmetal
MemberOK it worked. Dont know why it didnt before, but it did this time. Wow! Netmeeting’s webcam service is so much better than Yahoo’s! Much faster! And it doesnt blur when I zoom in. -very impressed. TY Windaphoner.

MemberOK…………….
I have another question. I wanted to view another one of my friends cam, but again they are using XP, so I had to use netmeeting. But they said that netmeeting files were deleted on their end, so I searched for a link so that they could download it to replace the missing files, but came up empty. (I searched this site: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/netmeeting/download/default.asp)
Is there a download anywhere for Netmeeting for Windows XP Home at all??March 20, 2003 at 3:54 am #97709magistyk
MemberDid they do Start < Run < Conf to install it in the first place?

MemberI dont know what they did. All they said was, that they had it, and files got deleted from it by accident.

MemberFirst off, I’d have them try the Start < Run < Conf thing.
If that doesn’t work, here is a topic about reinstalling netmeeting on XP: https://bigblueball.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1641&SearchTerms=netmeeting

KeymasterAs magistyk points out, they may actually have NetMeeting and not even realize it. By default, XP does not put a NetMeeting icon in any of the menus. But conf.exe is in fact installed with XP, and available (unless they really have deleted it).

Memberif its hidden, I doubt they deleted it. I tried inviting them, and they canceled it, (not sure if it was them, or the service) but I will look into it.
