Hi. Are there any DOs or DONT’s that I should be aware of when trying to use NetMeeting from within MSN Messenger? eg. Is it important to close anything or open anything before opening NetMeeting? Does it matter if I launch NetMeeting from the opening menus or from the conversation window? Do I have to turn on/off audio and/or webcam beforehand?
I ask all these questions because my experience to date is very hit-and-miss. Sometimes no joy at all. At other times, plenty of joy – and being able to work on a document together at a distance is, believe me, a real bonus as far as I’m concerned.
Thanks
Mike
PS. Yes, I checked the FAQs; yes, I did a seach; and yes, I checked the official site.
hi how are you ? theres nothing to be worried just fill your name and your address and configure you mic and speaker and webcam in the configuration wizard and get started just like any other application
If you want to use audio or video in NetMeeting, you must make sure that no other application is currently using either your mic or your webcam (this includes MSN Messenger), otherwise NetMeeting won’t be able to access them. Those devices can only be used by one application at a time.
I usually have the best results launching NetMeeting directly. You can use MSN Messenger to establish the initial contact, swap IP addresses, then one of you “calls” the other via NetMeeting using the IP address. This works most consistenly for me.
