MemberSo this has been happening for about a month if not longer. You know how that little mailbox pops up down by the little yellow instant messanger guy on the lower right hand corner, that is if you have a new email in your Netscape Account or any other mailbox I assume? Well it’s been blinking for about a month now because Netscape will not let me access my mail. I go to the sign in screen, type in my password, and I recieve an error screen saying “” vspace=10 hspace=5> “, then below that it says “Sorry an error has occured.” So then I go to the “click here to continue”, I click on it and I literally get a blank page. I have no idea what is going on here. Help!! 😮

Participanti dunno if this will help at all but try going to netscape.net and sign in from there.

MemberRaindropz429, have you tried disabling any popup blockers that you might have? Sometimes they tend to kill webpages that aren’t actually ads.

MemberI tried that also. I rarely have any pop ups on my computer (phew). I just can’t figure this out.

MemberThat is really weird.. I can log in fine to netscape mail nomatter which way I do it..Even though I dont use it, I’ve got an account… One time it did appear white when I logged in, but I hit refresh and it worked. It sounds like it might be your browser having problems… What browser are you using, maybe try changing to a different one or reinstalling the one you have.

MemberI’ve been having the same problem for month or so. At first I entered my username and password and received a page simply stating “Error 120.” After a few days, I started receiving a blank page, and ever since I’m simply redirected to the Netscape homepage. The same occurs when I attempt to sign into Netscape preferences.
Steps I have taken, in vain, to access my e-mail:
1. Downloading Netscape browser 7.1.
When attempting to login using Netscape’s built-in mail function,
I received an error message that the server could not be
located. (Apparently the rumor was true…servers can sprout
legs and walk out the front door if owned by AOL!) ;~)2. Disabling McAfee Internet Security (includes firewall and pop-up
blocker).
Error message 120, then redirected to Netscape homepage.3. Running in safe mode.
Error message 120, then redirected to Netscape homepage.3. Using my neighbor’s computer.
Error message 120, then redirected to Netscape homepage.4. Using the public library’s computer.
I was able to log in using the public library’s computers, but it
registered no messages, new, saved, sent, or other. That is
rediculus since AIM said I had 7 new messages, two of which I
sent myself from my Yahoo! account.I sent Netscape a message using the public bug complaint form last week with no response or patch. I decided not to pay AOL for someone to say that AOL and Netscape are the best programs on Earth and have no flaws so it’s somehow the fault of either me or my computer.
I was unable to find “Netscape Error 120” through any search engine. If anyone has any additional information on this problem, please post it here. Thank you.

MemberI got to say it’s nice to see I’m not the only one with this problem. It’s just so random. I totally agree with you. This is either fault of the program or my computer. I’m afraid to arrange anything on my computer because I just got it back from my computer company due to me tampering with it while trying to fix another problem. Regarding Sathallrin’s question: I’m using Internet Explorer. I simply have no idea what to do. Your help is greatly appreciated!

MemberI dont know this might help…this is the error boxes I recieve when I try to log into Netscape Mail:
1) “Sorry, we are unable to sign you in with the Screen Name that you use for AIM. If you are an AOL member and also use AOL Instant Messenger with the same screen name, use your AOL password instead of your AIM password.”
2) “The address type is unknown or unsupported”

MemberRainDropz, I received the same error message today when I attempted to signin. Since it was an error I had not received before, I used the netscape browser to test their server and see if I could aquire a connection yet…after over a month, Netscape finally realized the frustrations felt by their “customers” and fixed the server!
The new error message, refering to signing on with an AOL username, is caused when you sign into AIM and then attempt to log into your e-mail account. Exiting AIM apparently is not enough…you must restart your computer and disable AIM from the start-up list in order to access your mail.
*Please note that you must also logout of all ad-blocking software before opening the log-in page in your browser.
Luckly Netscape was not my primary e-mail account, and all I missed over the past month were a bunch of advertisements. Let me know if this helps.

MemberThanks mousearoma. I’m gonna try that and hopefully something positive comes out of it. Netscape isn’t my primary email either and I’m sure that all I’m getting is a bunch of junk. I’ll let ya know if it worked. 🙂

MemberI don’t know what bothers you, but if it’s the flashing icon there is hope 🙂 I spent a few minutes looking through the resources in the AIM files and found what you need.
I strongly suggest that you backup your AimRes.dll file in case you messed up or my instructions are not completely accurate… don’t blame me if something goes wrong, but it shouldn’t. 🙂
First, get this program. It might be a little while to download if you’re not on broadband, since the only mirrors I found are from Australia and Europe.
When you get that, open ResHacker.exe. This program will let you look inside the resources used in AIM.
- Go to File -> Open… and go to your AIM directory (usually C:Program FilesAIM95) and pick AimRes.dll
- Click on the + by “Icon” on the left panel
- If you have Windows 9x you need to look at number 56, if you have Windows XP you need to look at 61. These are the normal icons when you don’t have any mail (or so I would suspect)
- Click on the +’s by numbers 108-111 if you use Windows 9x or 112-113 if you use Windows XP
- Right click on the appropriate number for your operating system (for example 108->1033) and choose “Replace Resource…”
- Click on “Open file with new icon…” and choose AimRes.dll
- Try to find either 56 or 61 as I mentioned earlier on. If not there (most likely) choose 120
- Replace the resource
- Repeat for the rest of the ones needed, either 108-111 or 112-113… note they are different sizes I don’t know if that is important…
- Quit AIM all the way… shut it down. Then go to File -> Save
If any other modders find a mistake, please post here.
If you have any questions ask here.
Good Luck! 😀February 3, 2004 at 2:27 pm #85445Fimus
MemberSo did it work? Not work? I would appreciate feedback 🙂
