MemberNew beta version, however if you use AIMutationor DeadAIM they won’t work with this beta at this time. 🙁
So you may not want to download this beta until AIMutation and DeadAIM have a chance to come up with compatible versions.

MemberIs there any new features in this beta or is it just a release to fix minor issues? Make sure you include that in future posts about new programs or program updates.

MemberIt says at the website:
New Features in AIM 5.5
Live Video IM
Now you can see and hear your buddies with Live Video IM. All you need is a webcam, microphone, and a broadband connection.
Note: Live Video IM requires a PC running Windows XP, webcam, and microphone. Performance is better over a broadband connection or Local Area Network. You may not be able to connect to your buddies if you or they are behind a firewall.Screen Name Linking
Do you have more than one Screen Name? Now you can sign onto AIM once, and have all of your Screen Names appear online. Send and receive IMs from any of your Screen Names. View all of your buddy lists. Make your linked Screen Names appear on or offline with a single click.December 11, 2003 at 12:52 am #52436Charles
MemberNow all we need is logging and it is then the equivalent to DeadAIM 3. Who predicted this??? Me! Once buddy aliasing is put in, J. Dennis will have no reason for is software. As for the ads, just use some other free program. And for tabs, who knows? AOL betas now have them (in a very bad format), so AIM might have them soon too.

MemberEvan, its too hard to explain. Basically for every screenamed you have linked you have a new tab on ur buddy list window. So say i have 4 screenames linked and i have 4 tabs. Each tab represents a screename and i can sign each screename on by clicking on the eye conntected to its tab. I can then scroll through the diffrent screenames buddylists by clicking on the tab that represents a screename.

MemberThe new Otsego plug-in for aim will be compatable with Aim Version 5.5.3501!:D
This is what they said on there website
12/11/03 – FIXER – New Aim Beta
Well aim released a new aim beta. This kinda sets me back a little, because I have to recode some parts. I wanted to release the beta on the 25th, but I am not sure if that will happen. Also, I wanted to let people know that Otsego will only support aim 5.0+ because I see it as a waste of code to support older versions.December 13, 2003 at 5:09 am #52434Jeff Hester

MelisYou don’t really need it. You can create multiple screen names and individually turn them invisible or visible.

MemberI know several people who want to try out the AIM video conferencing. Came across an announcement about a site that lets you link up with others interested in trying out the beta. Supposed to open on Dec. 16, http://www.videochatfinder.com. Sites like this are popular with the Apple crowd using iChat AV.

KeymasterFor adding new features in their new version, they have compromised some settings to which we all are used to from long time. like, I really had hard time finding that content panel
Buddy List
Chats
AIM for fun
What’s new
sportswhich is now placed inside My AIM menu. Options are also changed by a significant amount, so many users may find it hard to set desired options. They have, by default, turned off those ‘door open’ and ‘door slam’ sounds. Further I still cannot find the option to turn off ‘AIM today’ window that appears at log on. There’s also a button added for games. Some games are ok some are not (none is very cool) and those have cool graphics but they require much resources (may be because of java animation). Those games will perform satisfactorily only if you have >500MHz CPU and >=128MB of RAM.
