Hey, so what is it, you can download the new aim when it comes out for free, but if you want the certain things when using it, you gotta pay the $9.95? how is it going to work. I’m still using 5.2.3292, I don’t really find an interest to 5.5.
what $9.95? aim is still completely free as far as I know, unless they’ve decided on a radical new strategy that i’m unaware of. i’m using 5.5.3595, and that was free. aim betas are also completely free, but its basically at your own risk. or are you talking about add-on programs?

yeah nothing costs any money other than aim expressions, theres a aim photo book thing that comes up when you direct connect but u can just close that out and just right click then click insert sound file and it will let you insert pictures too

I actually did get the beta, mostly because I was irritated with the offer popping up at every sign on, and found that I actually couldn’t directly connect, so whether or not that’s a problem with this newest version, or just a problem with me, I couldn’t tell you…
I found quite a few annoying features with the new Beta. The two additional pop ups that appear everytime you start AIM and the little thing at the bottom of the buddy list. I used reshack on it a bit and got rid of all the ads and the thing at the bottom but as in the other AIM I tried to reshack I still can’t figure out how to get rid of that annoying empty space.
i havent tried the new beta yet, but as for that “annoying empty space” getting rid of it involves editing the “23 > 323” resources, somewhere in there there’s a set of numbers for the buddylist tree sizes, and the bottom frames that contain the function buttons… set those to zeros and it should eliminate that extra space.
as for the beta. I think i’ll stick with trillian, it works for me. aim keeps getting suckier and suckier, so no thanks.
Does anyone know if there is other software smashed in this version of aim? Like… In 5.5 There is weatherbug.
Yeah they added the AIM toolbar. All optional.. except it still installs “MiniBugTransporter.dll” or something along those lines, regardless of whether you choose to install weatherbug. Suspicious…
