I was talking to this person on AIM when they sent me a link to an IP address, saying to go to the site. So I clicked on the link and now I have a virus that the person I was talking to has.
The virus is that everytime I instant message some one on AIM for the first time on that screen name, a link automatically pops up, saying “click here” and then it has that same link to the IP address.
Sorry it sounds kind of confusing..but I really would like to know how to get rid of it. Thanks a lot =]
I would suggest downloading SpyBot Search and Destroy.
http://www.safer-networking.org/
Secondly, for real-time protection against spyware, I would suggest this nifty little program.
this is called an adware and not a virus. goto download.com and search for ‘ad-aware’.
lava-soft’s ad-aware is a very good adware remover. and after installing the software, click on live update and update your reference file.
They have mentioned this program’s name in aim.com help section for removal of these kind of links.
Hey smarts.
Spybot S&D does both.
And if it doesn’t work, then you can use the program here.
i would suggest three programs…spy bot, ad ware by lava soft an the wilder immunity prog…wen working in unison they provide awsome security against spy ware, cookies an trogans.
