Bringing lots of new things today. This is a new build, get it here: ftp://ftp.newaol.com/aimgen/380479/Install_AIMServices.exe
From the name, I know its going to bring us lots of new treasures. 😉
I’m guessing that this’ll include the new business services along with all the other crap that usually comes along.
Most of you probably wont care but I always like to have to most up to date builds.
EDIT: Suprisingly, I haven’t found any extra junk besides whats usually installed. The skimming aim sticky should be enough to get rid of all of it.
Don’t ask me why, but I decided to install it. To my surprise, the scumware is still present, and I don’t know if this is new, but I got about 2 or 3 pop up’s upon sign in, and did the advert banner just get bigger? With all the adverts, the stock ticker, and the pref. buttons it over powers the contact list.
AOL really needs to take a page out of MSN/Yahoo’s book. 🙁
This had come out a while ago. I had to use GoBack on my computer to undo this installation and all the junk that came with it. I’m sticking with 5.5.3572.
They should change the name to Scumware Instant Messenger. 😛

Yeah I downloaded it yesterday.. It had some business tools on it or something. It’s only accessible through the business page on AIM.com .. So I dunno. it looks the same.

Until AOL says something, we don’t know. IMO, AIM development is seriously lacking behind other messengers. AIM 6.0 will likely be another disaster that I am going to avoid. (like AIM 5.5, 5.2, and 5.0)
It is beyond me how AOL can add an AIM expression (that is all the AIM for Work is) and give it a new build number. It is like Communist Russia, making the bosses think you are doing work when nothing gets done. Just switch to Trillian.

i’m starting to wonder if aim is worth having anymore (if it ever was), and hope they dont make the version I have (3595, which I only reluctantly “upgraded” to after I couldnt dc to anyone, and a few other reasons) obsolete
Before this,my favorite AIM client was 5.2.3277 and I loved it…….
Then I tried 5.5.3590 and I havent left it since (Made sure no spyware was installed,etc…….)

all these builds are essentially the same. im just hoping that they fix some of the vulnerabilities that allow crashing. really wish they had a change log.
I assume so because it is only a new build…this isn’t a new version. Note the version numbers are still 5.5. Only the build number changed, meaning no heavy-impact changes were made.
