This is one of the coolest looking keyboards I have ever seen.

The keys can change for different functions:
From their website:
It’s in initial stage of production
We hope it will be released in 2006
It will cost less than a good mobile phone
It will be real
It will be OS-independent (at least it can work in some default state with any OS)
It will support any language or layout
Moscow is the capital of Russia
Each key could be programmed to produce any sequence
It will be an open-source keyboard, SDK will be available
Some day it will be split (‘ergonomic’)
It will most likely use OLED technology (e-paper is sooo slow)
Our studio is located two blocks from the Kremlin
It will feature a key-saver
Keys will use animation when needed
It has numeric keypad because we love it
There’s no snow in Moscow during Summer
It will be available worldwide (why not?)
OEM will be possible (why not?)July 16, 2005 at 4:24 am #126221DrBroccoliParticipantFrom the looks of the pics, Mac only?

i think this is gonna be awesome. of course, they say it’s gonna cost about as much as “a good mobile phone” but that doesnt tell me much about the actual cost. i would LOVE to have one of these.

A good mobile phone is over 200 dollars, I believe, Tiger.
Anyway, I’m getting this keyboard if I can get my hands on one =)

July 17, 2005 at 3:17 am #126211shifterMemberFor those whining about it being Mac-only (which it obviously is not) should realize that all Mac keyboards use USB to connect to the towers so they are really all OS independent (Yes, I’ve actually used a Mac keyboard on a PC). The only thing that would make it Mac-only is the software to run the LCD display, and for a keyboard this sweet I’m sure Windows software would be made no matter what it’s initial base is-whether it’s from the company or not.
July 17, 2005 at 3:30 am #126214TigerbladeParticipantand like i said. right on the site it SAYS that it’s going to be independent of any operating system, so it will work on Macs and PCs. they probably havent gotten to that stage yet, or at least havent posted such. they’re still coming up with a price, so realize this thing is still under development.
July 17, 2005 at 4:46 am #126217AwesomeSauceParticipantThis thing looks awesome.
You can go here to look at some more pictures:

I think it’s awesome how it can change character values for each key for different programs. Like in the bottom few pictures, you can see all of the tools for photoshop and controls for Quake.
July 17, 2005 at 4:55 am #126215ys8er2323Memberand the best part it the captioned buttons for games, it will make it so much easier for people to learn new controls for new games
July 21, 2005 at 1:04 am #126226BShink21MemberThey look pretty cool.
July 21, 2005 at 1:40 am #126212MartinBradleyMemberAh, haha. What a snazzy keyboard!
