ParticipantQuote:quote:Nintendo DS features two separate 3-inch TFT LCD display panels, separate processors, and semiconductor memory of up to 1 Gigabit. It’s scheduled to launch worldwide before the end of 2004.Players will no longer be forced to interrupt game play to shift perspective, such as moving from a wide shot to a close up, or alternating between a character’s ongoing battle and a map of the environment. Nintendo DS makes it possible to perform the tasks in real time by simply glancing from one screen to the other.
Sounds cool. Two seperate LCD Screens sounds like a very innovative approach to game play. Can’t wait to see the end result.

MemberIt won’t really be a console from what I’ve read. It’ll be a handheld with two LCD monitors placed above one another, one being for the actual game, the other for extra information (example: close ups of the playing field). Because of these two monitors, it’s called the Nintendo DS. DS stands for Dual-Screen.
It’ll also have two processors (one with an ARM9-core, and one with an ARM7-core which is in the current GBA and GBA SP) and it’s supposed to have 1 Gigabit (128MB) internal memory.Read http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/68/35011.html and http://www.1up.com/article2/0,4364,1454490,00.asp for more info.
Oh, and my ISP’s article about the Nintendo DS has a link to an old Donkey Kong II game that gives an idea of what two screens might look like: http://www.ggdb.com/GGDB/DetailsZoom.asp?Cat=All.Handheld.GameWatch.Multiscreen&VID=5801&PID=1390&NID=1&TID=Game -
