Alright, to my one other Yahoo! Team member, i think Yahoo! has gone way down in activity. So i’m considering adding more staff to our lovely team so that we can possibly liven it up a bit, and make it as active as before.
We have more than enough room in here to let a couple of people in! ๐ (Especially since it’s lonely here!)
So i was thinking along the lines of 2 new mentors and possibly if they fit the role correctly, then we can up one or both of them to an advisor role in the near future. (I first want them to get aquainted with the behind-the-scenes look.)
Now getting back to the point of why i posted, i’m a bit stuck on who would make a good mentor so i’m asking for names that you (Dermot) or anyone else on staff has noticed being a good Yahoo! member. Any suggestions welcome and thanks for taking your time to read. ๐
February 8, 2007 at 2:41 am #157229NessaParticipantWell since i got no responses, i’m a bit stuck on still deciding. A member who helps a lot is kingofchaos6669. I must admit the only problem i had seen first was that maybe he’d advertise the YTK program a bit too much, but that doesn’t seem like much anymore since he has always been helpful. So as of right now he’s the only name i can think of. Anyone agree or disagree?
(And thanks to det for mentioning that member to me! :P)
February 8, 2007 at 5:03 am #157222detn8rParticipantOf course — as I AM the man! ๐ heheheh
February 8, 2007 at 5:14 am #157224SpikeMemberI know I’m not a Yahoo staffer but I wanted to share my input (because nobody else has yet, ‘cept “the man” over there :p).
I took a quick look at his account details and such, and he does seem like a definate candidate for a mentor position here. The only thing, like you, Nessa, mentioned, was the advertising of his program. If he became a Mentor here I’d recommend that someone let him know not to advertise it too much because we as Staff here try to be unbiased as far as programs are concerned (at least we TRY to be unbiased). For example, me announcing to the whole site that I think meebo is f*cking awesome and all the other web messengers suck would be biased, and definately wouldn’t look good. That would be my only gripe with having him here. If he didn’t advertise it (you’re right, he seems to be okay now), I’m all for him joining us. He seems helpful and friendly. ๐

Yes, but if i remember correctly, he’s quit BBB for good? With that whole incident Sarah mentioned in another post that i can’t remember right now.
So i didn’t think it was good to ask him, if he’s too angry to return to BBB.
February 10, 2007 at 6:15 pm #157221Jeff HesterKeymasterHe got “pissed off” over the word “pissed” in a news story headline. Maybe it means something really nasty in New Zealand — I don’t know. But I don’t think there’s any harm in asking.
February 10, 2007 at 11:38 pm #157223detn8rParticipantI think I recommended that as well ๐
February 10, 2007 at 11:49 pm #157226princeGParticipantIan would be a great addition (again).. I want to hope that there isn’t anything else behind that “pissed” incident, but if there isn’t, I hope he’ll change his mind.
I know that he used to check out the news section pretty often, an area where messages seem and are much more formal and technical like, so seeing a word like that there (not that it’s that nasty), made him turn away completely from this forum.
February 11, 2007 at 12:15 am #157231NessaParticipantAlright, well i asked….. And he said “no, sorry. THRU with BBB :(“
So he is really completely through with BBB, so he won’t be an option for the Yahoo! Staff. Just thought i’d let you guys know how it went!
Any more options anyone has in mind?
Oh and it is because of the Skype thing using the word pissing…..
February 21, 2007 at 8:38 pm #157228NessaParticipantI’ve asked Ven0m previously known as kingofchaos6669 to join as a Mentor in the Yahoo! Staff Team and he has agreed! His status is currently being changed and will post an announcement in a bit.
So since he can now read this! Welcome to BBB staff Michael!
Still looking for another mentor though, so if anyone has any ideas, please let me know! Thanks! ๐

February 21, 2007 at 9:50 pm #157225princeGParticipantWelcome to the BBB staff Venom ๐ I noticed you were purple so I searched for a welcoming thread for you =p
March 2, 2007 at 3:19 am #157227DermotParticipantWelcome Venom,
Like many you will contribute and learn from this experience like we all have.
happy days ๐
And jeff, eagle_kiwi *hates* any sort of language whatsoever, he flipped out on my site too about another word that slipped by my word censors.
