Well I’m not sure. Remember a couple of weeks ago we updated because of their last security issue and I know there have been some people complaining about offline messages being deleted right away, so I’m just kind of confused. *yells for Nyhrvana*

MemberNo, this is to upgrade from 5.5 to 5.6 without totally d/l a new messenger, you will notice the buttons have a different look to them, and a few other things on it are changed, i’ve been havin a few problems, it’s pretty buggy, dunno what yahoo’s thinking releasing it like this. I agree with a lot of other people who posted on here about 5.6 that it has a lot of bugs in it, and it’s not very good, i wonder if ytunnel is totally patched with 5.6, that would be the only reason i can think of why they would rush this upgrade so fast with bugs in it.

MemberWhat the hell is up with the new (5.6) Yahoo! Messenger? I went to read my offline messages and when I went to close the window, it told me all messages will be deleted upon closing. That is very stupid. I went back to 5.5.

Another friend of mine didn’t get the message either. Which is strange. What version are you running?

Before you update:
http://www.freddys-utilities.co.uk/mess55.php – before you update, read this, and if you backup like it says, you wont have hassle should you want to go back.Stop the yupdater:
http://www.freddys-utilities.co.uk/disupdate.php – basically just rename the yupdater.exe file, dont delete it, because you might need it in future!Already Updated? Regretting it?
Uninstall correctly through start>>Settings>>Control panel add/remove programs and remove yahoo! messenger. BACK UP archives and emotes/smileys first!
Then go pick an old version (I recommended 1254,1250 or 1246) from here: http://www.freecreed.com/ymsgr-archive -
