Hello: Myself and my brother and friend who live in a seperate states, have this problem!
Here is the problem, whenever I go to my yahoo composing screen to write an email, a yahoo messenger screen comes up and says I signed in on another computer and yahoo messenger will shut down now and I have to restart it.
This happens other times too unexpectedly. I wrote to yahoo and they said they are working on the problem but its been almost 2 months and nothing seems to be getting fixed.
We are using 9.0..0.2162, anyone else having this problem? Please let me know and ThanksJuly 22, 2009 at 10:59 am #175309Doris KenneyParticipantGenerally when you’ve been signed in from another location it’s either because you are logged in mobile, or on another client. But more recently people are finding their username and password has been compromised and a spambot is using their login to sign in from a remote location and send spam under your name to your contacts.
Have you tried changing your password to see if this helps? If Yahoo says it’s a “real and valid” problem them I suppose it could be, but it’s indicative of the behavior of a a spam bot so it can’t hurt to try and change your password.
Let me know if that helps or not.

Venon: You said>> Click on the arrow by the Available status and click Offline. If you mean the drop down menu, Offline is not an option or do you mean type it in? Thanks

I’ve seen various correlations, like Outlook checking Yahoo mail, or whatever. But as long as you’ve ruled out a malware problem or security issue, chances are you just have to wait for some unknown period of time for it to stop. It’s just one of those Yahoo things and the version of the program is unlikely to make a difference.
Have you tried using a third party application like Digsby or Trillian to access Yahoo? Depending on the features you really need, you may find that Web Messenger is a viable alternative in the short term too.
July 23, 2009 at 8:51 am #175306tomsbbbMemberNo, I have not tried them yet. But I just brought up Opera and went to my yahoo mail from there and started using the composing screen and this time the yahoo messenger did NOT close on me. So like you said it is probably something I will have to put up with til they fix it (if they ever do) its been almost 2 months. BTW, the older version did not do this but I cannot go back to it, I tried using old version.com it downloaded but would not install, it stated I do not have permission to do this!!! Go figure? Thanks anyway for your help.
