My hubby and I left friday morning to pick up a clock that was in repair up in Eugene, Or. We cut across to the coast and spent two nights and three days driving back home the coast route. It was alot of fun. We thought we wouldn’t even book motel’s…(Just flying by the seat of our pants)…lol…And our minds were made up on our dinners out…(Seafood only)…So Newport was our first overnight stay, and had no problems finding a nice place to stay over night. We asked the hotel clerk, “Where’s the best seafood place to eat in town?”…”SHARK’S” she repiled, with a big smile. And omg was it ever!!!…Me being a crab lover, I had crab of course…lol…8oz of fresh, sweet, shelled crab, with drawn garlic butter, fresh steamed vegies, salad, and french bread, for about $25.00. Hubby had this wonderful huge bowl of fettucine with Italian sauce with fresh seafood and sour dough bread to dunk in the sauce $18.95….WOW…it was worth the hour wait, to go sit in this little four tables and bar only hole in the wall place….Oh yes…I had white wine and hubby had a beer…hehehe…The next day we drove down to Bandon. Found a place to stay overnight and asked again…”Where’s the best seafood place to eat?”…lol…Our host said…”ARGYLE GRILL’…in old town Bandon…Which our motel over looked at the docks. So about 8:00 we went down for dinner and had the most awesome dinner once again…Hubby had a dish called, Bandon seafood pie…It had bay shrimp, crab, and snapper in savory sauce, topped with mashed potato crust…$18.95…MMMMMM…I had…lol…Crab cakes, with louisiana remoulade, steamed veggies and a bowl of clam chowder…$19.95…OMG…was soooo Yummy…and of course I had wine and hubby had a beer…lol…On our way back home our last stop was Brookings…Our stomping ground..(Where we always go when we go to the coast)…Our regular place was closed…Awwwww…So we tried this other place for the first time. WOW…we had Clam chowder in a sour dough bread bowl, and on the side had fresh oster shooters, with cocktail sauce, and a V-8 to drink…hehehe……Anyway, that was our weekend getaway. And so if anyone gets the chance to travel the west coast, check out these wonderful hole in the wall places. AWESOME!!!

I really ought to start trying seafood more often… I mean real seafood – like you ate… (not frozen fishsticks! )
I can only remember eating seafood once.. although I must have eaten it more often. It was in a lil’ town on the Gaspé Peninsula (Québec). I had started here in my city (winnipeg) and went right across the eastern half of Canada to Gaspé (beautiful lil’ seaside town). I was two weeks in a car (fortunatley equipped with AC ) and I had the whole back seat!
We stopped along the way in a couple places – and spent a couple days in all the major cities. If I can recal.. I’ll try to name everywhere even if you don’t know what the heck they are.. lol..Morton – 1 night motel
Wawa (I think that’s what it’s called) – 1 night motel
Toronto – 4 days at a friends house
Montreal – 3 days motel
Some lil’ cute francophone town…. – 1 night motel/cabin
Gaspé – 1 daythen there was the whole trip back… which is that list.. but in reverse…
I was very scared to eat the seafood though.. VERY scared I tell you…
