Hi, I am new to this forum, but cannot find an answer to my problem.
I had a nickname with the ID I use for the chatrooms within Yahoo. Now all of a sudden, I cannot display this nickname, nor can I edit it. I am getting a webpage telling me this The requested service is not available . I wrote to yahoo about it and they told me to uninstall and re-install and to delete all folders left and do a clean install and it would work ok. After having done this a few times and still not getting anywhere I wrote them again. I then got a very patronising e-mail telling me I had to go into a chat room and click on file>edit my nickname and edit it in my profile details etc etc 🙁 Arrrrrrgggghhhh.
I am going round in circles here with this. I am using 5.5.0.1254 and am UK based. Please can anyone offer any suggestions what I can do to remedy this? Thanks in advance!! 🙂

Yahoo! official support need to get their act together. They really are pathetic. Only US users are able to edit nicknames, UK users are not. You would expect their support to know this, and not pass you rubbish information such as uninstall and reinstall etc…
Yahoo! support is full of auto replies, and lenghty delays, whereas unofficial websites and forums like this one are almost instant, and full of facts!
You would need a US account (i.e. you say you’re american when you sign up) to be able to edit nickname.
All you need to do is this…go to account info in your account. Change the lang. to English USA. go to your ID….change your info. save it… then, if you don’t want it to be in American English, go back to account info and change it back to the UK english (or Spanish or French or Italian, etc…). But everytime you want to change the Nickname..you have to do it that way. I have another language for my account…and I found out this little trick. You can do that with any language. I don’t know why Yahoo! does not just support it on other Yahoo!s but the USA
(Edited for clarity!:))Thanks for the answers on this one. I HAD a nickname already so I don’t know why I was able to have one before, and then suddenly it wouldn’t show for me *shrugs*. Silly Yahoo!!
