Memberhey didnt get u properly!! if the problem is that it shows u idle and u dont want to, then open Y! mess go to
login -> prefrences -> privacy over there u’ll see the time limit after which it’ll show u idle!!! change that or if u dont want to be shown idle then, click “never show me as idle”
i hope this will solve ur problem… 🙂July 6, 2003 at 7:04 pm #60254Johnson
MemberNo he’s saying that he goes idle, but somehow when he’s not there the idle goes away so people on his friends list think that he is there and try to talk to em, but get no response. If these people would use common sense they would know that you aren’t there. But also if you aren’t gonna be at your computer for a half hour, or longer, you should set a custom status message to let people know, if you can’t do that should just shut yahoo off. I have noticed this same problem with family members I know aren’t online at 3 in the morning. If it’s not yahoo messing up it could be a lot of things, something moves your mouse, or you get a pop up add, who knows what it takes to break you from bein idle, I would just try and focus on making a status message or just logging off.

Memberoooh if thats his problem then i think he should either log off or make himself invisible!!! that wld really help as u cannot be signed back in automatically if ur mouse is moved or smthing like that.

MemberHi Sirtigger35, I think this might again be a yahoo 5.6 problem because it was happening to me when I had 5.6.
If you do have yahoo 5.6 msgr installed, try uninstalling it and installing the yahoo 5.5. You can download it from
http://www.freecreed.com/ymsgr-archive
Hope this solves your problem .

MemberThanks, I think thats what the problem is. Also. I just went to cable internet. I have not been having the problem since then. Yahoo 5.6 may send a fake message over dialup to keep the connection open. I like the feature, but it really should give you an option. Any thoughts?

MemberI think this is a very frequent issue with watever version or connection. I have friends who are always logged on and never leave away messages. Sometimes the computer stops being idle for watever reason. (pop ups or other programs running in the background, etc)
There’s nothing else you can do except put away messages or log off like Johnson said
