MemberI’m on my old machine now.
Well, on the new Vista machine, I uninstalled Norton, but before restarting I installed Comodo Anti-Virus 2.0 Beta.
Then I restarted. When I logged in it was blank with a blue screen saying in a window Comodo Anti-Virus could not install properly.
Then I think it auto-restarted and made me go into safe mode. From there I went to a restore-point.
Thank Goddess it loaded up normally, however now I can’t get the internet on my machine. The little network indicator in the taskbar says things like “limited connectivity”, “local access only”, “unidentified network” and I can’t figure out what to do.
I didn’t even use the Norton Removal Tool and I caused a problem just by uninstalling Norton. Is it because I didn’t restart before installing the new anti-virus? How do I get my internet working again? I’m afraid to touch it anymore.

MemberI solved the problem. I downloaded the Norton Removal Tool on my old computer and transfered it over to my new machine and used it. And now the internet works.
Ugh I hate Norton so much.

MemberYeah I have such computer anxiety. >_<; I'm glad I solved it…
What’s sad is apparently Comodo Anti-Virus isn’t compatible with Vista…hmm…

ModeratorBefore installing programs in Vista, it would be wise to check (from the manufacturer’s website) whether it is Vista-compatible or not. This will ensure a high rate of a successful install, and fewer problems for you. You’re right in saying that Comodo antivirus isn’t Vista-compatible yet. I’d suggest you try AVG Free 7.5, which works with Vista.

MemberI’ve used that for a period of time on my old machine, I suppose I’ll install that until they update Comodo Anti-Virus for Vista. Thanks.

MemberOkay I installed AVG 7.5 it took a few tries I kept getting errors and freezes.
When it tried to update it kinda froze and I had to restart the computer…and I don’t want to try updating it again…not sure what the problem is…

ModeratorHave you removed Comodo Antivirus completely? There shouldn’t be more than one antivirus app installed, otherwise problems will arise.

MemberI was under the impression it didn’t install completely, but that could be the problem.
I shall look into that.
When I log on it just tends to cause my firewall and then everything to freeze to the point that I have to restart. It’s rather obnoxious. When I get home I’ll see what I can do, gonna need to stop some processes soon after I log on.

MemberI turned it on again and I didn’t see Comodo Anti-Virus in add or remove programs.
The computer froze up again and I restarted in safe mode and removed AVG…and it seemed to have solved the problem.
Then I look in my programs folder and I see Comodo Anti-Virus in there with the files inside…
Apparently it’s in there just not installed? Should I just delete that folder?

ModeratorProbably CAV wasn’t installed properly if you don’t see it in Add/Remove Programs. You could try using the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove it completely. Once you’ve done this, you can go ahead with downloading and installing AVG.
If you can’t find CAV listed in the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility, then things become more complicated. If you go to C:Program FilesComodo Antivirus, open that folder and see whether you can find an uninst file there (that’s the uninstaller). Try running that to uninstall CAV.
