MemberOk the best way I can explain this n sorry if theres already a post on this but there are one or two posts here and its a lil hard to find the right one lol
Ok my problem is as follows…..When I open my yahoo messenger (version 7) it seems to work fine but the moment I IM someone for the first time…WHAM I’m disconnected and yahoo reconnects now if I IM someone else for the 1st time it happens again but if I only talk to the one person it seems to stay on unless my connection idles for about 3mins (I’ve set idle time to 15min) so I don’t see how that should effect it. Now if I also open up the main window from the taskbar it also seems to disconnect my yahoo…I’ve tryed leaving the window open and it still disconnects on me…..I use XP pro and the settings for the yahoo connection are for the behind a firewall now I’ve tried opening ports for yahoo 5050 and 80 I think are the main 2 and yes I’ve even given yahoo server access through my software firewall as well………Any suggestions?

MemberI dont know if this can help but. I found out that if someone logs in using your id on a different computer it will boot you off of your instant messenger. could be someone has hacked your password and is using your id. but this is just a suggestion. I would first before getting into a big fix mode change my password and check it out and see if the problem is still there. I would also run hyjackthis program and see if someone has invaded your system. best of luck.

Memberok done those…..hijackthis found the nowmal stuff I guess and changing my password didn’t do anything. The problem still exists though and I have no idea why. I have trillian installed too but i don’t think that would effect yahoo on its own in this manner. An odd thing is though I’ve uninstalled zone alarm it still seems to pop up in some messages sent to me….by the looks of it perhaps windows has had too much junk installed on it and off it so I fear I may have to format it to dee if that ill fix my problem

Memberyou may want to use a registry clean up and restore I had problems a few years back and restored my registry and defragged and scan disk and everything went pretty much back to normal as for zone alarm I had to go and delete it out of the registry to get it completely off my computer.

ParticipantChange your connection to no network detection and try it.
If you’re allowing yahoo access via firewall you dont need to have it set to through a firewall…
Try using no proxies also.
i use Zone alarm professional and have it set on no proxies and it works fine.
