Anyone else seeing this with 5.2 (5.2.3277)?
Under XP (SP1, updated via WindowsUpdate), I start up AIM, put in the correct username/password. It gets to starting services, then disappears.
The icon in the system tray stays visible until I mouse-over it. When I do, it disappears. AIM doesn’t show up when I alt-tab, nor does it show up in the task manager. It looks like it’s just crashing and not reporting it.
Has anyone seen anything similar? I can log into the account with the older version of AIM as well as GAIM without any trouble, so I think it’s specific to this version.
Anyone with similar experiences?

It might be a problem with the fact that I’m not an admin on my computer and it affected the install of the new version. If I could help you I would but I cant think of anything.
July 3, 2003 at 7:09 am #93992ragweedMemberWell, it looks like the crashes might be specific to the SSL/Verisign/encryption extensions they’ve added since build 3139. I tested the version from aimfilez.com (requires IE to view the page – what a joke – so they can nail you with spamware from Gator)

This build works properly, but I sure wish I could use the final release 5.2.
Let me take this opportunity to remind you all that Netscape 7.1 is out, based on Mozilla 1.4. Please understand that IE really does suck and Microsoft really is evil. 😡

July 3, 2003 at 8:59 pm #93989Someguy03Membergood luck, so many people have problems with windows sp1. Most say it runs in the backround of xp rather than fixing anything. but now alot of programs require it. 🙁 If you had a addon like deadaim or aim+ they sometimes make seperate folders on ur comp. Make sure u delete those.
