Yeah, it’s a little quirky and sometimes flakey. Yeah, I know the interface gets a little getting used to. But Odigo works really well, and lets you communicate with AOL, ICQ and Yahoo users, to boot!
And it’s one of the few IM programs I’ve found that will work behind almost any firewall!
Dare to be different! 😎

I have tried Yahoo, MSM, ICQ, AIM, Firetalk, Paltalk, and a myriad of others and always come back to Odigo. Yup! It’s quirky and unpredicatable. But it’s very user friendly, “cute” and has a definate.. warmness about it that is lacking in many of the others.
Now, if only we could convince more people to use it!! One drawback that it DOES have is a limited user base. If you are looking for a lot of variety, and constantly like to bop around, meeting new people, you may get a bit bored overtime. But if you want an effective, “fun” , convenient, and easy to use Chat program to stay in touch with your friends, Odigo is the one..May 23, 2001 at 8:23 am #69696rustedtightMemberQuirky? sure. how come if yr system crashes the id used can not be used again as it will not load. thats sorta past quirky in my book. Maybe theres software incompatibility that odigo wont admit to or are just sitting on their hands?

They’ve been promising MSN Messenger interoperability for a while now, but have yet to deliver. Not sure why they don’t have it; there are lots of others that already do (Trillian, Jabber, etc.).

3.1 is still in BETA after a year
It now offers MSN interoperablity
It now offers support for different IM protocols (providing you know the server and you have the account information)The only draw back I’ve seen is that it doesn’t get your buddylist(s) off the server side, it’s always begging for a backup buddylist index file that is suppose to be on the hard drive if you use the commericalized software (Yahoo!, AOL, MSN).
Doesn’t do you a whole heck of alot of good, if you are someone like me who has been using Trillian.
There those are my two cents!

I found it easier to simply run both clients side by side, Odigo and Trillian.
I never did understand the beta thing with some software, Odigo even ICQ did it, there’s a reason I guess but it escapes me.rustedtight

I can only think of two reasons why a company would put a product in pepetiual beta:
1) liability – don’t blame us if it fries your computer, it’s not the finish product
2) refuse tech support – don’t come knocking on our door for support, its still in beta.BuShWiCk
