Google Talk is a great little program that allows me to phase out the horrible AIM client. Everything works well except when I try to chat with AIM users on GTalk. Once I open a window with an AIM user, their status goes to “offline”. But the funny thing is that I can still chat with them even though their status is offline. I was wondering if anybody had the same problem or solution?
Yeah, it’s just an issue using transports. I find it sorta annoying, but then again if I am already talking with them I know they are on so it sorta doesn’t matter to me I guess. Of course then if they don’t tell you when they go offline that can be odd. Anyways, yes, I have had this problem on multiple transports I’ve used. It’s just something that happens by using the transports and Google Talk.
I had the same problem when I first tried to connect the two a while back (when it first became possible). I was hoping by now that someone would have found a way to fix this. Is there anyone who has found a transport without this issue? Or solved it in another way? I guess I could run the Who’s Online program, but the refresh on that isn’t the quickest.
No, as far as we know, no transport works perfectly.
Keep in mind that when you do this, it’s a hack. You’re doing something that wasn’t really intended to be used (at least for now), so there are no guarantees on if it will work or not.
