MemberOk, recently I split my AIM site into two seperate sites ( for the most part ) the expressions and the icons, so I could girly-fy the icons section since it is mostly dollz, so I called it the DollzMall. I figured I could buy the URL eventually, not a big deal. Well, today I discovered someone beat me to it, still not a big deal, when I went to buy my original URL, .com was not available, but also not being used, so I got .net, so now I am having the same problem for dollzmall, I snoozed I losed, lol, it was just sold 6 days ago. I can deal… so I go to check the URL expecting that it also wasn’t being used, ERRT, WRONG!!! It is being used, for a dollz icons site, not cool, now I am starting to feel the burn and begining to think about whether this person could have done this intentionally, or if it was just a fluke, well, I quickly got my answer when I was checking out some of the icons, and some are mine….. EXTREMELY NOT COOL, lol….
So my guess would be that most, if not all the icons were taken from other sites, I don’t know if any of you guys around here are familiar with the drama of this dollz craze, I’m sure if you’re not you don’t want to be, but it is rediculous, it is like all of these sweet little teenaged girls are growing up with absolutely not a stich of values or morals…. On this site, none of the icons say who the author is, and there is not a single link on there to other sites or specifying that the content came from somewhere else, like she isn’t even trying….
Well, I guess that is all I have to say…. What else is there to say, you play with fire i.e. the immature world of dollz and thier admirers, you are going to get burned, I am too old for this, lol…..

KeymasterI think the problem is that there are very few people actually creating original work. I wouldn’t worry too much about the domain name. If you keep providing quality, unique stuff without any of the adware garbage that so many of the AIM sites use, your following will grow.
If you do find people violating your images, I would give them a choice: Either take the stolen icons off, OR add a link button to your site AND a link in the icon details crediting your site. (Buddy icon courtesy of…).
If they choose to link back, you’ll end up winning new visitors over. 🙂

MemberYeah, I am kinda over it now, I will do all I can to get them to take my stuff off, but last I heard from them apparently they don’t speak english, 🙂 nice try…. anyway, I am sure I will live, lol, the site is such an insult tho, my idea, the domain, my work, they couldnt’ even do a better job than me, if you are going to copy my idea at least blow me out of the water, why waste the time?? lol…

KeymasterOctober, I’m in the process of setting up a network of adware-free AIM related sites. There are three buddy icon sites that are currently in development, but you can preview them now:
- http://www.MyBuddyIcons.com – a bit of everything
- http://www.HerBuddyIcons.com – Girl stuff
- http://www.HisBuddyIcons.com – Guy stuff
I know there are some other decent AIM sites out there (like yours) that don’t try to cram NetPal down your gullet or go overboard with pop-up ads, and I thought it would be nice to band together so people have an alternative to the same old sites.
What do you think?

Hey guy, what battle? When you register a domain its yours, if you waited too long you have no right to it, don’t matter what content they put on the site. Now, if she could prove it, she could have a battle over copyright materials, but thats pretty pointless in this case. She could perhaps complain to the webhosting company though. Depending on the service being used (just do a whois on the site) most hosts don’t want to risk any legal issues.

MemberYeah, it sux, but it happens… It is just so lame that they had to go so far as to take my content, how obvious can it be that they didn’t make it, but they feel it is ok to take it and act like they did…. So far I am dealing, but I just hope that they are not bold enough to go back for a second trip, hopefully they can see that I am not taking this lightly and altho they have my stuff now, getting more would really be pushing it… seriously, have some respect, morals, life, something….
