… the latest versions of OSI doesn’t add you to a bot account’s list. It uses a new technique for retrieving status.Ummm, I’m new here, and new with OSI, and I was wondering if there were any servers that still used the bot to show the status, as the new way doesn’t work very well for me 😡 .
If not, is there any way that I could maybe get hold of the code for the old method?

🙂PS.
I took that quote from another thread, called, ‘No MSN status when blocking all other users’.January 1, 2003 at 4:59 pm #98893TonyMemberWhich host are you using? This should work fine. In fact, the new technique uses a bot in a different way and is more accurate than the old one.
Make sure you use a host that runs the latest version of OSI (currently 4.4). Note that OSI uses caching which means that your status will cached for 0-5 minutes (depending on the hosts configuration).

It’s cached? Ah, that would explain it!
I know we can host our own OSI, but do we have to make it public 😮 ? I’m running my own small website from my home PC, and I want my OSI to update instantly, so it would be useful to host my own, but if I gotta share it, it would eat up too much bandwidth 😡 .

DW.
🙂January 1, 2003 at 7:11 pm #98894TonyMemberOSI is very low bandwidth. If you don’t want your host to be public, don’t join the web ring. 🙂
