I’m kinda looking for the old Yahoo messenger sounds, the Chimeup and the door open and such. The new ones are too minimalistic for me…
Does anyone here have these in a ZIP file or something?

March 26, 2007 at 7:04 pm #150302rickjames5000MemberThere ya go http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/us/msg/8/old_sounds.exe
A window opens, asking if you want to Run or Save this file? Click Save.
Another window opens. Where would you like to save the file? Make it easy – just save the file to your desktop. (“Desktop” should already appear at the top of the window, after “Save in:”. See it?) In the lower right, click Save again – and watch as the download proceeds.
When it’s complete, double-click old_sounds.exe on your desktop.
Another window opens! Yay! This time, click Run.
Surprise – another window! In this one, you need to do two things:
1. Verify the “Unzip to folder” information. It’s where the sound files are going.
The folder should be “C:Program FilesYahoo!MessengerMedia”.
Make sure “Overwrite files without prompting” is checked.2. Click Unzip to put the files in your Yahoo! Messenger media folder.
Click OK in the notification window telling you that “21 file(s) unzipped successfully”.
Click Close to close the WinZip Self-Extractor window.
The old sounds are back in your system! It’s now safe to move the old_sounds.exe file on your desktop into the Recycle Bin.
Now it’s time to reselect the old sound files. Here’s how:
1. Open Yahoo! Messenger.
2. Click the “Messenger” menu and select “Preferences.”
3. Click the “Alerts & Sounds” category.
4. Make sure there is a check in the box beside “Playing a sound”.
5. Select an alert from the list. To hear the sound that’s currently playing, press the arrow after “Playing a sound”. That’s the ‘play’ button! If you like what you hear, just leave it. If you want a different sound, click Browse.
6. A window opens with all your different sound choices, listed as .wav files. Choose one, and click Open.7. Back in the “Alerts & Sounds” window, click ▶ – the ‘play’ button – to hear the sound. Is it the one you want? If not, click Browse again to try another. And when you’ve got the right sound, move on to the next “Alert me when:” sound in the Alerts & Sounds list, repeating this process until, for each action, you’re hearing the sound you like best.
8.When you’re done, click OK at the bottom of the window.
