Okay, I know this topic has been posted before, but that was like, a year ago, so I have no clue if the same solutions apply.
I get two messages that come up when I try to run MSN Messenger:
‘C:Program FilesMSN Messengermsnmsgr.exe
A device attatched to the system is not functioning’
And
‘MSNMSGR.EXE file is linked to missing export OLEAUT32.DLL:176.’
I have no clue what this means, and even after reading suggestions on the other post a number of times cannot find the answer. I have tried the links they reccomend but some are quite old and I don’t think that work. Is anyone else having this problem and does any of you know of a solution?
I am really desperate to get back onto MSN because it is one of the only ways I can talk to my boyfriend because I don’t really see him often enough. Thank you.

I’m assuming u have WINDOWS 98 OR ME on ur pc
WIN 98 OR ME
click Start, Run, and then “copy” and “paste” the following command into the box:
C:WindowsSystemmsiexec.exe /regserver
(Don’t forget the “SPACE” between msiexec.exe and /regserver)
(You will need to change the C: to whichever drive Windows is on)
then try install msn messenger.
IF IT STILL WONT INSTALL THEN DO THIS:
(only do this if ur using WINDOWS 98. I’m assuming u are using windows 98)
go here:
http://www.microsoft.com/com/dcom/dcom98/download.asp
And download the Download the self-extracting executable and install it. Then reboot ur pc and run the msn messenger setup.
thank you huge for the information. i was wondering why my computer was messing up. thanks again!
