OnLAN Messenger is a client-server, multi-user instant messaging and file exchange service. The product is developed specifically for use within enterprise-networks, therefore the functions and options are designed to primarily comply with the demands of any kind of organization for a reliable and easily customizable instant information exchange tool.
All personal contact information of all your employees, as well as your company’s branches and partners is registered in the OnLAN Messenger database, and can be modified by the system administrator.
The OnLAN Messenger service allows you to keep track of the status of all registered users. Users, not logged in to OnLAN Messenger are assigned the “offline” status. Users, at their workstations with their computers switched on and logged in to OnLAN Messenger are assigned the “online” status.

You can setup some of the OnLAN Messenger client functions. All changes made to the settings are saved after pressing the “Ok” button. Depending on the rights setup for your login name by the OnLAN Messenger administrator, changing some of the options may be unavailable to you.
The “Administrator” button is located in the lower part of the “Settings” window, and can only be used by the OnLAN Messenger system administrator to change all and any settings for your user.
All users can edit some of their personal registration data. Users, who are not registered in the OnLAN Messenger database, can send an application with their registration data to the server. Users with administrator rights can change the OnLAN Messenger server settings using any computer linked to the Local Area Network(LAN) of the organization.
The main function of the OnLAN Messenger is instant message exchange between users. Messages can contain different fonts, paragraphs, “smileys”, pictures and inserted OLE-objects.
You can format your message text. The formatting panel is above the message text field. You can change the font type and size in the two fields above the message text. You can insert the clipboard contents into that text directly, or use the standard mechanism for inserting special objects. Furthermore, you can use the OLE technology to insert special objects into text messages.
The OnLAN Messenger supports the option of file exchange between users:
– send and receive files,
– receive files only,
– send files only,
– or cannot exchange files at all.
The OnLAN Messenger database also contains the user e-mail information. Thus, you can exchange e-mail messages with all users in the OnLAN Messenger contact lists.
