MemberOpera Software ASA is really going above the rest of the companies when it comes to public relations. With the 10-year anniversary/birthday of the Opera browser, they organised an online party and provided each person who attended or knew about the party a free gift – a registration key for Opera. The Opera community was also given the privilege of chatting to the CEO, CTO of Opera Software ASA and the person in charge of UI. Along with the release of a new version of their community site with improvements and changes that really make you want to be a part of the Opera community and stick around too!
Today, Opera Software ASA surprised us all (in a good way) by making their browser “permanently available without ad banners and licensing fees.” –Opera’s Reviewer’s Guide — FREE! With this move, Opera has definitely become a large competitor in the browser market as most people who have tried Opera only go to an alternative browser because of the licensing fee.
So download Opera for free and use it for free. Try it out, I’ll go as far as to say most of you will love it. It’s not like Firefox where you have to spend hours on end installing extensions just to get it the way you like. Opera comes the way most people love it, right “out of the box”.
From what I see in Opera’s future, Opera is stronger than ever in the browser war and other browsers pale in comparison.

MemberI’ve used Opera before, but I just couldn’t stand it because of the ads. But now that they are gone, I’ll give it another chance.

KeymasterI just started using Opera for the first time ever. I am really impressed with it. It is very fast and the default interface is really nice. Many options to choose from and lots of skins as well. I’m definitely going to be using it, along with FireFox. I too can’t let go.

Um, hi. Opera has been in the web browser competition for the past 10 years, it’s just either ignorance or the licensing fee that people haven’t used it. Personally, I feel it’s about damn time. Maybe now some webmasters can make a few more sites more and better compatible. *wink wink*September 21, 2005 at 3:59 am #130502Tigerblade

KeymasterI’ve used Opera for testing websites, but I’ve never liked the interface well enough to use it for more than that. It’s about time they came out with a free version without ads. It’s hard to imagine that many people actually paid money to use it when there are some good alternatives available for free (Firefox, Maxthon, etc.).
Currently, Firefox is my primary browser, supplemented by IE 6 (needed for certain applications at work).
