I have 2 AIM screennames, which for simplicity’s sake will be referred to as SN1 and SN2.
I have DeadAIM, thus the ability to log on under more than one name. I have SN2 on my SN1 buddylist. Yesterday I saw SN2 log on by itself. I immediately cloned AIM and logged on to be sure my account hadn’t been hijacked. I was able to log on.
When I log off SN2 or put it to invisible mode, it shows up away on my SN1 buddylist, but is still visible as online. I’m afraid to log off the name now because I’m afraid someone has hijacked it.
June 16, 2004 at 5:35 pm #43535XeonMemberWell to be on the safe side, I suggest you change the password, check the email address that it is registered under and make sure someone has not tried changing it. If they have then cancel the request; the instructions should be in the email. Then make sure none of your other names have been stolen.
June 16, 2004 at 5:46 pm #43530IMQueenMemberYes I have changed the PW. I’ll check the email address now.
The email address isn’t changed. Could this just be a glitch?
June 16, 2004 at 6:30 pm #43534TropicalMemberYes someone has hijacked your account.. If SN2 was away on your buddy list when you signed off of it.. Then yes someone is on it and they set that screen name to away. No glitch can cause it to sign on and go away lol..
June 16, 2004 at 9:01 pm #43531IMQueenMemberWell it switches to away when I go offline. I’m still able to use it.
June 16, 2004 at 10:14 pm #43528DavidParticipantKick it offline by going to http://toc.oscar.aol.com and logging in with Sn2. Then whoever hijacked the account won’t be able to get in anymore, because you changed the password.
June 16, 2004 at 11:09 pm #43532IMQueenMemberThe site won’t load for me. Or am I supposed to log onto that server with AIM?
June 16, 2004 at 11:13 pm #43529DavidParticipanthttp://toc.oscar.aol.com/tic.html make sure you don’t have a pop-up blocker enabled.
June 16, 2004 at 11:18 pm #43533IMQueenMemberGah, I found out what it was. It was my cell phone. I have message forwarding enabled and it came on my buddylist when I turned my phone on. Sorry for the trouble.
