How do I customize Outlook Express? I never set it up before, and it already knows my hotmail email address. Is there any way that I could set it to my Gmail account or something? (on my other computer, my outlook express is set to my cousin’s email address. He’s never even been on that computer, which seems really weird to me.)
If you want to use gmail with OE, you’ll need to download Pop Goes The Gmail. Then just go to Tools > Accounts > Add > Mail then use the following settings:
POP3 server (incoming mail): localhost
SMTP server (outgoing mail): localhost
username: your gmail username (without the @gmail.com)
password: your gmail password
The reason that your hotmail account is already in OE is because Microsoft thought it would be a good idea to save your .NET passport in windows and use it for a whole bunch of other stuff. It’s generally just a pain. You can just delete your cousins’ hotmail address from OE on your other computer if you don’t want it there.
