Do you think her sentence is fair? Why or why not?
I say YES, her sentence is fair. If you break the law, you must pay the consequences. Just because you are a famous celebrity DOES NOT mean you should get special treatment.
The reason that America is so screwed up is because people give a damn about people like Paris. What has she ever done? Oh.. right.. nothing. Regardless, throw her in the slammer. And thanks for submitting this Rae. 🙂
I think it was a little steep, but she can get out early on good behavior 😉
The current Canadian laws are:
* For the first offense: $600 fine, 1-year driving prohibition; or jail time
* For the second offense: 14 days jail, 2-year driving prohibition
* For the third or subsequent offense: 90 days jail, 3-year driving prohibition.What did Paris get slammed for?
“In September 2006, she was arrested for driving under the influence and subsequently sentenced to 36 months probation and had her license suspended. Following subsequent arrests for driving with a suspended license and speeding, Hilton was charged with violating her probation and sentenced to 45 days in jail.”

Good behavior, det? When was the last time you heard “Paris Hilton” and “good behavior” mentioned in the same paragraph?
I think yeah, she probably got a bit more than the normal punishment for this particular offense, but sometimes you just need to show people they’re not above the law. Just because you’re rich and famous (famous, I might add, merely for being famous… that’s her only discernible ability — the ability to be born into a wealthy family) doesn’t mean you get to do whatever you like whenever you like. There are consequences. You get your license suspended, you don’t go out and drive. Normal people occasionally get away with this, but normal people aren’t flaunting their lives in front of the media.
The fact that she cried out to her mother as she was being taken away proves that she has never had to be responsible for anything in her life. She’s been pampered and drooled over for her entire life and never had to face consequences for any of her actions. House arrest? Please. I’d love to be confined to that mansion.
Really, I absolutely hate celebrity news like this, but this time is one of those where I just have to smile and say “it’s about time.” Although, I don’t think this will have any real effect on her. I think this is probably great PR for her — she was starting to dwindle in the news for a bit, and now look at the headlines.
It’s not about her specifically, I believe it was state law, that it’s mandatory she gets out after 21 days with good behavior. I believe that is what I read anyway 😉
Either way, she has apparently turned a new leaf and promises to be a better role model… maybe she will make legit porn now, who knows…
