It’s said that, ‘Pen is mighter then the sword’ but… ‘What about the keyboad’
December 5, 2004 at 9:20 pm #107708MartinBradleyMemberI don’t see the purpose of the thread. Does this thread serve any useful purpose, other than comparing a keyboard to a pen in the way that it can be used to write/type things?
December 6, 2004 at 7:15 pm #107711AqeelParticipantMartin; there are stages of a thing which you talk. Most of the time people only got to hit extreme stages and you also… Other stages about this thread are that what IT had bring you, what is the difference between old ways and new ones. I think it’s not a comperison of pen and keyboard it’s about past and present.
December 6, 2004 at 8:41 pm #107710TigerbladeParticipantsorry, I gotta side with martin on this one. yes the “pen is mighter than the sword” and the modern-day equivalent is the keyboard, but the same thing holds true. I dont see a new axiom of “the keyboard is mighter than the M16 Assault Rifle” coming around anytime soon. past vs present, pen vs keyboard, same thing. the written or typed word can at times be more powerful than brute force, but I too dont see any other purpose to this thread…
unless there was something deeper that i’m just completely missing??
December 6, 2004 at 8:55 pm #107709MartinBradleyMemberThe only sort of thing I can dig from it now replies have been posted is this:
The effect that the introduction and spread of computer systems has had is a great thing. How have computers and the introduction of ICT affected your life?
That would possibly make for interesting discussion.
December 6, 2004 at 9:06 pm #107707Jeff HesterKeymasterI think you have to look at the intent of the original quote. It meant that human history is influenced more by the written word than by warfare. In that context, the keyboard is essentially the modern-day equivalent of the pen. Unless I pick it up and pound you over the head with it. 🙂
December 6, 2004 at 9:15 pm #107712AqeelParticipantYes, you are right Martin* My life is affected so much.
*I got to spend 2 hours daily on pc at my college.
*I got to spend 6 hours daily on pc at my office.
*I got to spend 4 hours daily online at my home.
=The sum is 12 hours.
It’s means I’m going to spend half of my day with computers.
Some times all this dosen’t look normal to me, I think these computers are going to cut me from humans.
The rest of my day I sleep for 8 hours, rest four hours are for eating, and doing necessary jobs. Tell me all this….. is gona affect my life or not?
I do wana leave all this but I can’t!!!
Edit:

My suggestion is this that you all can look at this post with different angles, with different point of views. All of your point of views to me are like flowers and think that I’m going to make a bouquet from these flowers.:) -
