MemberJohnson, I think everyone here would like to know how we can secure our privacy not how to hack someone’s account. (i know you said you were just joking earlier, but some people might think you were not and may believe that this is an acceptable thing to do.)

MemberB4 i got into cracking i had no clue how ids were taken, i just thought they were magically “hacked” i think it is very important to understand the methods how they are stolen, to be informed, and to be able to make the most logical choices to secure your account. I would ASSUME that any other intelligent person would have this school of thought. I have went into great detail about how accounts are stolen, and also how to secure them, and things to do, and other things to avoid, one thing i remembered was to say that you should never make your id the same as your password, thats one of the first things most people would try. Sorry, but i have always been fascinated with cracking. If someone tells me to do something, i want a reason behind why i should do it, or very unlikely i won’t do it. 😎

Again, it seems to me that you are just trying to make it to Senior status on the site in the shortest amout of time possible….to get your jollies is it?? LOL……THAT’S SO FUNNY!Umm… do you like get a prize if you get to “senior status” ?
Look people, he may not be very nice, but some of the information he is giving out are actually useful – securing ID because you never know who is after it.
But then again some of them are very bad —> deleting primary e-mail ID because you CAN’T recreate it. Ignore that advice.
So use the ones that are good, ignore the ones that are bad and if you can’t distinguish between the good and the bad, just ignore them and try and co-exist.
Oh also, you can’t use the “you give information and bad people will find it and hack good people’s account” logic. Its like saying “dont give yahoo.com’s address because bad people will use it to find bad information on it and use that info to annoy good people”.
Just my two cents worth.
Oh and Johnson, I saw the ICQ post, and let me tell you, finding private information about member’s of this board and then posting them up for everyone to see is really really really lame.

No prize…I was just trying to make a point at that time, Arwen. You bring up some very good points. I really appreciate the thoughtfulness: you, Mariette, Netti, and now it seems that Poe Lover bring to this forum (Not to mention Snuggle and Jeff…they are VERY appreciated!). Thanks!

I don’t think theres anything wrong with getting off topic, and to answer your ?, yes i think i can figure out if someone who’s Invisible mode is online or not, and no this isn’t for stalking purposes, if im talking to someone, and they seem to quit talking in the middle of a convo i always wonder if they are still there so i use some methods to check whether or not they are online. Or connected to messenger. And these same checks can be used if they are in Invisible mode.
Arwen, i misread i think the thread you started about getting rid of an email account, i would never suggest to someone to delete their main id, ok i would lol, , but not in a forum were im trying to help people out. I didn’t realize it till i saw what jeff posted. And i apologized (which won’t happen too often) And as far as me posting someones personal info, the info was pretty much attainable from this site, zips are simply traced knowing someones city, I thought some people were doubting my talents, and questioning me, i don’t like that, i did it to teach you all a lesson that we are all vulnerable, even i am vulnerable if the right people get the right exploit.
Snuggle, you promise to smack me? lol I’ve been a bad boy.
I try to find humor in EVERYTHING and make myself laugh as well as everyone else, if you don’t have a sense of humor, blame your parents, not me.

best way to determine online status….. ASK…..

MemberOk, Johnson, if you are here to help people that is GREAT!!!! But explaining in detail HOW people can get info is not the way to help. But telling people that this can be done, and explaining in detail how to prevent it, is the best way to help, I think. I just think that more emphisis should be placed on fixing the problem, then how the problem can happen is better.
Also, I think rythem is right… going off topic is not good. It defeats the purpose of having topics in the first place. Sorry all!

MemberNetti, it’s your world, i’m just living in it. You seem like one of those people who believe that the world is all warm and wholesome and bad things don’t happen, well bad things do happen, and i have NEVER given direct info on this forum about any exploits, exploits always have a way of magically getting patched when they go public, not that i care, because i don’t use them, if i want anything i goto friends of mine and have them do my dirty work for me, mainly just to mess with people who won’t shut up. You are listening to what i’m saying, you just aren’t HEARING it.
