Those of you that have tried the AIM 5.5 betas have realized that AIM has added a “great” new feature to AIM: Games. This would normally be a good thing, however the installation of AIM 5.5x beta forces the installation of Wild Tangent which collects information about your usage habbits etc. (Wild Tangent’s privacy policy can be found here) Even if you are willing to put up with Wild Tangent you cannot escape the new ‘Games’ button that has replaced the very helpful mail button in the buddy window. Besides being hideous, this button removes a great feature of AIM. (NOTE: The Check Mail functions of AIM still exist but they are harder to access with the button on the Buddy List) I will ask that if there are any of you out there who feel the way that I do and you would like the ‘games’ button removed and the mail button restored to the Buddy List that you kindly sign this petition
Thanks.
I think that a better feature needed if AOL isnt already planning to put it in is AIM formatting. So you can custimize what buttons you want and so on. Also, I think AOL is going the wrong way with the look of AIM. The stuped aim linking crap looks ugly on the buddy list and is just annoying in my opinion. This is going to be like morpheus, it went from a great P2P program to a crappy one.
that sounds good but what makes you think a petition will solve the problem? i dont get it.
alana0601, if enough people sign it and it’s sent to AIM, they might take Wild Tangent software out of AIM, solving the problem.
what else can we do? i mean this is sorta the best there is…
It should at least be an option. They could always make it so you download the WildTangent crap after you install to use games. They went a little overboard this time.
o,ok
