MemberIs there any way of pasting an image from MS Word (2000) into a composed Hotmail letter? Everytime I try it doesnt want to paste. I have tried right clicking, pressing the paste clipboard icon, CTRL V, nothing works. Is there some ‘secret microsoft’ way of doing this, or is it a trip to some far off get a way to an island that will never happen?
I know I could copy and paste it into MS Paint, but I want a faster way, not creating so much work, copy and pasting.February 26, 2003 at 9:54 pm #97848Spider_man
MemberWell, I tried every shortcut I could thing of but…no luck. If it did paste it was just a dark box in the composed e-mail. You might try just attaching the file to the E-mail if it’s below the limit.

MemberOr if the picture is on the web….then type a link to the picture! it works the same as if you were posting a picture on this forum

ParticipantI believe the only possible way of going about doing this is using Spider-Man’s suggestion. Attach it.
Copy the picture n’ save it as an actual picture file (the quality will most likely degrade after copying) – through a image-editing program (Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop, …or even Paint).
You could also take Phil’s suggestion n’ link it if it is hosted somewhere on the internet – although no. It doesn’t work the same as forum code. Similar – but no.

MemberThanks. I wanted to attach it but word said the file was over 6 megs (right! I only had 4 pictures and a bit of text) so thats why I wanted to pasted the images and text straight into Hotmail. BUT since it doesnt work, I guess I will have to use Photoshop oo Paint. Thanks again.

Memberit depends how big the images are! they could be bulking up the file…if you reduce their size, it should reduce the .doc file to the range needed for a hotmail attachment

MemberMy schools network is friggen up, so it keeps freezing the puters like every 4-5 minutes, and working with images is like suiside! I will just stick with what windaphoner stated.
ThanksFebruary 28, 2003 at 4:03 am #97839rustedtight

It would be simpler to send one pic per hotmail email.
Its possible your pics were of the wrong type E.G. BMP which are notoriously massive when compared to say JPG.May 2, 2003 at 12:19 am #97850RainbowGirl
MemberOK i have hotmail obviously and i want to send pictures to people and i had some of those really cute cartoon dolls in paint and i decided to copy a few and paste them in the composition box and nothing showed up when i did ctrl-v so i cliked on the clipboard and paper and nothing happened then i went to the menu on the top of my window went Edit>>Paste but the paste wasn’t showing up……HELP please 🙁 (p.s. i only have windows 98 if that matters at all)

MemberSave your image as .JPG and then go to hotmail>compose>add attatchment
And attatch the file! As said before, you can’t copy n paste in hotmail, but you can upload your image in another server like http://www.brinkster.com , and then use HTML to insert image in your email, do this:<a href="http://whatever.address.com/image.jpg” class=”bbcode_url”>http://whatever.address.com/image.jpg
Change the above address with the location of your image, and use the tags I provided!
This makes your email only about 2k big!May 2, 2003 at 1:51 am #97842magistyk
MemberJust zip the files, duh!

ParticipantQuote:Now let’s enforce proper use of HTML, grasshopper. More so correctly speaking:
Code:
Of course editing variables where desired.
But as magistyk noted – zipping the files and attaching them would be much more efficient and much less the hassle (not worrying about bandwidth problems for limited free servers, restricted direct linking etc).

MemberKeep in mind that jpegs & mpegs are already heavily compressed.
I wouldn’t count on zipping to compress them more than a handfull of %May 3, 2003 at 6:41 am #97838rustedtight

I wouldn’t count on zipping to compress them more than a handfull of %Correct, most often the additional overhead of the zip format will in fact increase the final ziped file size above that of the original jpegs.
