Hey, I was wondering if you knew of any free instant messengers that work on the pocket pc such as Agile Messenger.
Agile Messenger is exactly what I use on my iPAQ. It works great, it’s free, and I’ve used it to connect to AIM, MSN, ICQ and Yahoo (but not Jabber or Google Talk).
I’ve also used Skype’s Pocket PC product, both for text and voice chat and it works nicely.
I also use Pocket IRC for connecting to our BigBlueBall IRC server.
It sounds like you’re already familiar with Agile Messenger. Are you looking for alternatives? I haven’t found anything better, at least not for free.
Yes, I am looking for alternatives. There’s just a small thing that bother’s my with Aglie Messenger: it constantly disconnects me, from all my services.
I haven’t experienced these connection problems with AOL Instant Messneger (for the pocket pc.)
You might check out iMov. It comes in two flavors: a basic version that is free and an “enterprise” version that you can pay for. It is a Jabber client, so you’ll need an account on a Jabber server. The connectivity to other networks (AIM, MSN, Y!, ICQ) will depend on the support provided by the Jabber server you select.
I just downloaded and installed the free version and it does work, although the interface is not as nice as Agile Messenger.
