Ryan, you are my buddy but what shifter has said is very very fair. Because we talk alot I feel I should say something to my little bro. You did well :0), with Vanessa you did good very very good, it was a great effort on the yahoo side that night. But hun, but don’t do things on bbb because you will get a prize gosh no, do it because you want to be here. It’s not like we get paid lol (Jeff can we be paid? haha) just be you ok because you are a smashing guy!
July 25, 2006 at 10:17 pm #148867MrEggsaladParticipantI didn’t do it for a prize…and I thought it would have been silly to thank myself. I’m literlly in tears here after all of this :crying: Look, I don’t give a damn anymore, I tried to help and end up getting kicked in the ass. Thanks a lot.
Sarah, it wasn’t the intensity of your post, just more adding to what shifter had already said. I just want it to end, fine….I’ll just be around maybe….
July 25, 2006 at 10:56 pm #148851OreoMemberOK….sorry…perhaps it is the hormones calling…but let’s drop the issue…and Eggy…this is NOT a reason for you to leave or not participate…it would not be the same without you. I was not in IRC and actually did not read through that thread because my Yahoo! was behaving just fine. Sometimes when you feel (or even KNOW) that some one else has taken credit for what you have done (and I am NOT making any opinions on this everyone PLEASE take note of that) it sucks…but then you suck it up.
It will happen to you through out your life. There have been things that “I” have created and ideas that “I” have come up with…without a doubt…and my boss will take credit for it. Sure…it sucks….but eventually when I leave she won’t have that and she’ll look one HECK of a lot less creative. I used to get angry about it…but it is unfortunately one of those things that happens. I know you feel like this happened to you with the podcast…but just find a way to get around it and get over it. It will make you stronger and you won’t get so upset with life. This is summer…enjoy it!! And don’t leave us without your wit.
I think that is the theme that Sarah was going along too…it’s over…don’t dwell on it kiddo…and move onto something new and more positive!! 🙂July 25, 2006 at 11:00 pm #148868MrEggsaladParticipantI didn’t mean I’d leave! No way! For the most part you guys rock. And, thank you for the post 🙂 I have been trying to move on, just some posts then got me right back….:( Plus, I’d have nothing to do without you guys :p Thanks for your kind, yet truth-telling words Oreo. I’ll try and move, on. Let’s just put this behind us now shall we?
July 26, 2006 at 12:39 am #148854shifterMemberFair enough Ryan, I’ve had my say and you’ve had yours. I’m dropping the issue as of now. I’m sorry if I came across too harsh.
Peace 🙂

He happens to be the son of a friend of mine, and he gladly agreed to let us use that or any of his music at no cost. He has even offered to create bits if we need something a little different. That’s awesome. Do you have any of his clips we could sample, and, we could vote(poll?) or something? … If not, I’d keep the current music.
Jeff wrote:There is another option. There is music that artists have made available for use by podcasts. It’s called “podsafe music” and there is an entire site dedicated to it: http://music.podshow.com/*shrug* I don’t know… I’ve heard some of that, it just doesn’t sound… -as- upbeat and cool as the one we have now. I’ve been underestimating the power of your current podcast music! :p
Jeff wrote:Even so, nearly all of the bands are small, unknown garage bands that you’ve never heard of. But there is some great music in there. We could certainly draw from some other music, particularly for thematic segues (a thrashing guitar lick for a “rant of the week” for example).Hey, now that’s an idea! *grabs chin*

July 26, 2006 at 7:41 pm #148860SpikeMemberPersonally, I think we should leave the music. Like what was already said, it’s sort of like you hear that music and think, ‘Oh, the BigBlueBall Podcast.’ and you get that warm fuzzy feeling inside. :p We could look into assigning specific parts of that song or different songs to particular segments, to get it set in peoples minds that song1 = rant of the week, or song2 = forum tips, etc.
July 26, 2006 at 10:06 pm #148855shifterMemberI gotta agree with Spike – the intro song has already been ingrained into my psyche as the BBB podcast song, so changing it now would just be weird to me. I do like the idea of using short transitional music to segway into different segways.
July 26, 2006 at 10:31 pm #148859RabidKittenParticipantThe whole music thing…well really, it’s more than just a little tune to introduce the podcast. People use music to get your brain ready and anticipate what’s coming. That’s why they use certain music for background in the news for weather, sports, bumps, whatever. It’s a subliminal cue. Changing it now would confuse those cues.
But a little bump music might not be bad and smooth the transition.

But we are keeping the intro the same, right? I agree that we should keep it now, it’s too awesome to change it. 😉
For the clips… I particularly liked: “Brilliance” teaser clip and “Thief” teaser clip. I chose them, compared to the full length versions, because they are mostly (if not all) instrumental and they sound catchy. Also, they are only about a minute long. (Just like the intro). …Does anyone else want to share what they’d like as clips if this idea is go?
July 27, 2006 at 5:04 pm #148861SpikeMemberI really like the first 10 seconds of Brilliance. A lot.
Having said that, which segment do you think it would go best with?
July 28, 2006 at 10:54 am #148873MrOatsMemberI think that “Brilliance” would go best with forum tips/questions. …Just because those first 10 seconds sound… Heroic to me. *hopes of not sounding too crazy* …Seriously, it’s sort-of like: “BBB to the Rescue!” Themed. :p Listen with that in mind, and you’ll see what I mean. 😉
What about “Thief”? Toss it or keep it?
