Will the V8 pony car ever return as the sort of vehicle that sells in the tens of thousands, or will it be resigned to being just a niche product bought by the rich and old:confused:;)
Traditional pony car

unfortunately, it could never come back the way it used to be, meaning made out of metal. my dad used to have a car that was built like a tank, now cars are made of nothing but plastic……. if they actually made them of metal, i’d have one as fast as I could rob a bank to pay for it (i mean…. um….. *makes a run for it*)September 15, 2004 at 7:54 am #72042f0rbezMemberYeah, we’ll never see muscle cars in the mainstream again. Nowadays, everything has to be economical, especially with gas prices so high. V6 is kind of rare for the new import compacts that most people drive, let alone V8.
Even the “American made” cars are being built similar to the import compacts, light-weight, fuel efficient and cheap. “American made” meaning from the American based companies, since most manufacturing is being outsourced anyway.
Not necessarily a bad thing though. Although I admire muscle cars, we’ll see some real cool stuff coming out of Japan and even the US as they develop the technology even more.
